I am planning on sorting out a new set of discs and pads on the Impreza but I am having trouble finding a suitable pin punch. I have read that you can get away with a long nail but would prefer to use the correct tool.
Any ideas where I can pick one up and the size I would need?
If it's just for the retaining pins then I didn't use one. A gentle few taps from the inside then twist and pull from the other end with a set of pliers. You might need a bit of wd40 if they're that stuck.
They come out easily. If needed a small srewedriver can be used as a punch on the end to start them moving, but doesn't require much of a hammer at all. Once moving I'm usually always able to get them out with fingers.
Cheers for the advice gents and cheers Iggy for the offer, much appreciated.
I may just have a stab at it and see how it goes as I don't need to remove the calliper to try the pins, if they are a pain I may well take you up on the offer of the punch. Thanks again
