oil pump??
Took Scoob out for run today and got her up to temp when oil pressure on defi started bleeping back and fourth off warning..pulled over turned engine off and checked oil level which was fine? So called AA who brought her back home..hopefully no damage done on internals
what else could make oil pressure drop? Cheers

A couple of months after my mate installed my Prosports in the classic the same thing happened to mine and that turned out a loose connection between the wires under the bonnet so check the wiring connections first Bry, something may have been disturbed when you were having work done on the car recently???

Its being taken up to indigo tomorrow to have a check to see what's the low down.. I hope its sensor or pump just don't want no internal damage from low oil pressure? How long does it take on low pressure before damage..I switched engine off straight away after a few warning Beep's.. Thanks for advice lads

[QUOTE=KJD Mk1;11608157]A new defi sensor is around £140 I think so check everything else first ie connections.
Any engine noise ?[/QUOTE
A recall a little ticking before shut off come to think! So that defo rules out sensor!!

sorry to hear about your problem Bry.
Pressure and levels are too very different beasties mate (unless you have an obvious oil leak which will cause both).
A pump failure (or pick up blockage) would see a drop in pressure but not in level.
However, keep a cool head as it is possible that its a sensor or gauge issue.
Also if it is pump (or pick up) and you were quick (ie Defi's did their job) your obvious fear of terminal damage is also less likely.....I've survived a pump failure (not in Bob), no lasting issues besides a new pump, oil & filter (done twice with 50 miles inbetween).
Either way, keep cool and see what comes.....hopefully the sun will shine on you

What mods have you done altogether since buying the car engine wise is it turbo and de cat? I'm assuming you had the car mapped after this? Has the oil pressure warning light come on on the dash panel and what was the engine temperature?

ah its only metal at the end of day but would rather a pump than pistons lol
Yes just turbo, induction kit and de cat..mapped after mods and no light on dash panel just warning ping off defi gauge. The oil temp was about 90's..what u thinking fella?
I'm no engine expert but if it was me I'd go back to where you had the mods and map done and get them to check it through... I'm assuming they have rollers so they can run it up steady with the lap top plugged in and check everything is right.
Last time my pressure dropped I pulled the pump off to find the bolts on the inside of the pump were working loose ,, left any longer it would of took my engine out so was a lucky escape and for a while I thought it was a dodgy gauge but dicided to check and glad I did

snow me thinks in a place only me and jay are mad enough to live lmao!!Only takes two secs to check if you have oil pressure so can't see why they don't do it on the spot as no oil pressure is kind of a serious problem and I wouldn't be willing to wait that long to find out what the problem is I'd take it elsewhere and get it checked ASAP

One of the lads in indigo showed me how they have made light dents in pipes so they fit without going to some one like charlie, tony did offer it to go to charlie but I said if it wasn't like a major dent then t##t it with a hammer! But after finding a bolt loose on turbo and once tightened it didn't hit steering knuckle any longer for some reason when I accelerated and turned..god knows lol
Omg I just remembered something i thought wouldnt effect it! The oil in car was 10w 50 and when i checked last weekend it was lowish so topped up with 10w 40..guy in mon border said it wouldn't hurt it as they virtually the same?!? If I dump oil and put fresh in it might do the trick? The oil light didn't come on so oil pump would be fine??
Just an update, gonna drop oil check for any metal parts..check oil lines and oil filter, change filter and put some 5w 50 in and fingers crossed that does the trick?! Was told if pump failed the light would come on dash? So no light on at time so hopefully caught it before meltdown! We will see lol
