Cool The Red Menace.

The Red Menace as been in my possession for a while now and I can only sit back and chin scratch for a while.

So, I have sourced a few bits already and will get things going over the next few weeks. But the drift handbrake as gone and a normal one is in place. The spats are off and the boot lid, spoiler with Perrin stiffies go with it soon.
The back seats have been removed and cleaned with the fronts getting done over the coming days.

And some stuff as arrived.

Sorted some more of the interior out over the last week, so carpet out.

A Japanese smoker!

The shadows make it looked stained but it's had the valet machine on it.

Extensive use of clutch and brake cleaner on all areas to get the gung off but I managed to get the Dynax wax into the cavities as well.

The Quantum upholstery cleaner is very good and does the job. But I will need to change some of the scuff plates as they are quite bad. I only need the cup holder and the fascia from the centre vents down have been renewed, "impartsb46" on Ebay have seen a few quid of mine already. I'll be looking for a 5 piece set of OE Subaru blue mats.

Red and gold? They are mint and they do not have any chips, the camera seems to have picked up all the dust in the air.

The spoiler, boot and spats have gone. The car will be going into the body shop for paint soon but in the meantime I may get the boot wrapped in as close to 22G Red as I can. The WRX spoiler as already been done.

I know Huw down in Weeks Works does a great job but wondered if anyone knows of a place in Cardiff that could help?

The front drivers seat is due a removal and valeting but I am toying with going with an STi Blob interior and door cards to match the carpet. I know there are seats without the STi badge that will fit the bill and not make the car something it's not.

I'll need a new bumper skin for the rear after the diffuser is removed and the OE Subaru spats are fitted. Again if anyone knows of one locally then give me a nudge.

Very Busy day today. First things first and the new boot went on.

The boot will be getting painted soon and matched up to the rest of the car. The next things to go were the mud flaps, not my thing really and taking them off revealed some shocking stuff on both sides of the car. There was a considerable amount of dirt and sand behind the mudflaps.

This got me thinking, so off came the wheel arch liners and f**k me! There was at less half a kilo of sh*te behind the wheel arch and was very wet and smelly.

It had made it's way down all the way to the side skirts, so these where prised off to reveal even more crud and cleaned out.

The drivers arch had some form of sound deadening or liner but this was also very wet and covered in dirt.

So while the liners are off the inner wings have been cleaned and Bilt Hamber cavity wax applied.

Two rather large piles of dirt!

The rears are just as bad.

I know a number of Blobeye cars have suffered from rust on the wings and judging by how much wet dirt was hiding at the bottom of the arches and around the tops I can see why.

So this how it looks now.

Blinking flip Ian just goes to show that flaps can mask a problem rather than prevent it.

I do like the look of the WRX spoiler and boot lid, I think these days that less is definitely more plus the factory look is the new modified.

To more things on a bit I ordered a few bits today.
  • A 5 piece set of JDM blue over mats.
  • Normal WRX pedal covers
  • A set of F & R JDM "Impreza" scuff plates
  • OSF wheel arch liner (the other one had split)
  • A set of clips and fasteners for the liner
  • T10 LED number plate light bulbs
  • T20 LED boot interior bulb

I also managed to get a good sheet of plywood to replace the boot floor which is AWOL. I'll cover it and fit it as a two piece (pics to follow). As I had nothing to do I had a mooch about behind the scuttle panel as it'll get my OCD going otherwise. I even managed to keep all the clips in one piece.

It's not too bad but will get a clean up in the next few days.

Onwards and upwards.
