Mikey,

The Hyper Twin's are capable of well over 500bhp, so should be more than up to 400+, depending on just how much the "+" is ;-)

The Hyper twins come with their own light weight flywheels, so you wouldn't need anything else.

They are also re-buildable, and I keep all the parts in stock.

Mark.

Mikey,

They seem to vary a little, and I think it's based on how carefully it's fitted. The plates can be distorted, without care, causing dragging, and running in seems to make a difference too.

I have customers where their wife did notice the clutch had been changed, and one or two that are quite snatchy.

Over all, they are very good, but they are a race style clutch, and won't be as forgiving as an organic.

Thread hijack alert!!!

Do you have experience of Helix twin plates? Mine drags, and the bite point is about 0.1mm off the floor, meaning crunchy gear changes into 1st or second lots of the time. Is that likely to be down to the fitting, or a faulty unit?

Im running a hyper twin plate at 620bhp, no slipping at all. It is a little heavy in traffic but you just need to compensate with a few extra revs when setting off. Also the first time you try setting off after fitting it, you will stall it

I found my twin plate as Banny says a little more heavy than std, but mine was very smooth with a good biting point.

Takes a few miles for the noise to quieten off though..

Tim,

I've not had any direct experience of the Helix, but I do recall there being some issues with them, much as you have described.

I was recently told the issues had been resolved, but I guess it will depend when you got yours.

It was fitted last June - the first was faulty and had to be replaced, second dragged - it was checked over by Helix in Banbury who were rather dismissive of the fault, although they did hint they were working on a revision to the design.

My installer is well aware by the way, but we were hoping it would bed in. After 8000 miles its getting worse not better. They are just as keen to get it sorted as I am, and they've contacted Helix again again - so hopefully we can get the fix applied to mine

Thanks for your input, much appreciated

Tim,

8,000 miles of hassle !!!! You've got a lot more patience than I have. I'd have kicked it back a long time ago.

It did actually seem to get better for a while, but is getting worse again.

Really been waiting for it to go back in for the new turbo and FMIC...which was going to be August...then September...then October...etc

S4U would have sorted it if I'd wanted by the way!

I'll have to split a clutch down to check, but you really need to compare the total weight of the clutches.

I know the complete D Core version weighs under 13kg, I'll try and weigh the standard twin next week.

Mark - I've been speaking to Russell and he will be in touch before the new year.
I will be going round to his before New Year as we have another car to look at, so either way we should know whats happening before then.

Have a great Christmas.
