Smile Big brake kit using the new AP 6 pots

Been waiting on delivery of the new AP 6 pot calipers , the CP9040 , which is the next caliper up from the popular 7040 we have used for the last 6 years or so.

Dimension wise they are the same as the 7040 , same mounting points , same piston size , and same shape pad , pads are important as they are cheap for the size of them , The DS2500's , PF Z rated , EBC orange and blues are just some of the pads available , and all priced under £145 a set.

The calipers are a much nicer design , and are now powder coated so have a hard shiny finish , and are still available in black or red , one main advantage is the calipers are now forged where as the 7040 calipers were cast , so will be a lot stronger , and also comes with bridge bolts to reduce any flex even further.

We have just made a kit up and sent it our yesterday to the customer , we can offer the kit with 330mm discs to fit under 17" wheels , or a 355mm kit to fit under 18" wheels , or even use the AP 363mm disc again for 18" wheels

Not bad priced Ian :-)

How much of an upgrade will this 330mm 6pot kit be over your original AP Racing 4 pot 330mm setup?
How much extra will it be for DS3000's?

Are the discs a common AP Racing PCD so if needed in the future could run PFC rotors?
Car will be used for track/sprint use, so welcome your recommendation.

Finally are these prices inclusive of VAT?

Thanks

You will notice the difference more going from 4 to 6 pots on the track , braking consistently from high speed would be much better , we have DS3000's on the shelf so could include those at no extra cost.

On this kit we use a PCD of 10 x 192mm which is different to the AP 330mm discs , and the reason for this is the width of the pads , The pad the 9040 caliper uses is 8mm wider than the pads for the AP5200 calipers , so if you try to fit them on a 330mm AP disc the pads will overhang the inside edge and rub on the bells.

I guess you can machine the inside radius of the pads to suit , but then your losing overall performance by fitting a smaller pad.
Our 330mm discs in this kit are also slightly thicker than the AP discs , AP more common 330mm discs are 28mm thick , ours are 30mm , the extra thickness certainly helps with heat .

Hope this helps
Cheers Ian

Brilliant, thanks Ian answers my questions.
Will definitely be taking a set off you with the 3000's.

How well do you think your discs will last/cope with track use?

Are you able to provide me with a VAT invoice?

Had best get the old ones off and sold!

Thanks

Tom

Hi Tom
No problem with the discs on the track , I offer a 12 month guarantee against them warping even if you do track days , so you will have no worries there , we supply our discs to a lot of track dayers , rally and race cars and very rarely get any issues.

Yes the kit will come with a vat invoice

Cheers Ian

Brilliant, can't ask for any better backup than that!

Are you able to over the discs with different groves in them - eg Hook groves instead?

Thanks again for your time.

We can offer them with AP 363mm discs , and our own bells and brackets for £1650

Very similar at lowish normal speeds , the 6 pots would be better at higher speeds , and far better braking from very high speeds as in track days

These look sexy.

You got them in red yet, and in Widetrack fitment?

I'd be looking for the 330mm set, as prefer my 17s for track.

Yes they are available in red , but cost slightly more , machining them for either , or both PCD is not a problem

Yes we can offer you a 304mm kit using the CP5200 calipers , or the race 5040 which are basically the same but have no dust seals , and are finished in a grey anodised finish , the 5200's are either black or red , we can offer you that kit with a choice of pad for £1295.

We can offer the same kit for 17" wheels with 330mm discs for the same price

Cheers Ian

I'll be honest that seems a pretty good price Ian, do you have any pictures of the kit? What is the pad choice? Assuming these will go under most 16's

I dont think godpseed are spondering on here any more and in the past the trader accounts get banned once the sub runs out so you may not get a responce. Sure someone can correct me if im wrong.
