Question

Can anyone answer this?

I see that Donington's own track days cost 105 pounds and Easytracks days @ Donington cost 149 pounds! What is the difference? ...are Easytrack just poor value?

I'm looking for a track day first half of Aug - any recommendations?

Thanks

Easytrack need to make a profit!

So do Donno, but they don't have the cost of hiring the track, just the components that go into it.

SIDC track days are done just to cover the cost, so you might find that it could be less than a Donno organised day @ Donno

I don't see what is annoying about being a member of SIDC if you want cheap access to tracks with a group of sensible people you can trust.

On some track days you do not know who is going to turn up, in what car and most inmportantly what they drive like. The SIDC days are strictly marshalled and a real pleasure to go to, pay your £20 fee and reap the benefits

Doningtons own days have upto 90 cars yet Easytrack have either 70 or 60 cars - that is probably the biggest reason, apart from the obvious advantage of not having the same hiring costs.
Easytrack are very competitive generally - Trackfun want £245 for a day at Goodwood !!! Against £169 for Easytrack - and Trackfun are based at Goodwood !!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think Puff hit the nail on the head. Where is there a list of SIDC track days?

By the way, for your amusement I've done some more research. Donington track days with 'Tracksense' come in at 165 pounds, but the winner is 'Ontrack' at 200 pounds. You have got to laugh....

So when are those SIDC track days?

When I was doing Club 89 (now OnTrack) you got BTCC instructors, free tea, coffee, fruit juice and lunch all thrown in.

You need to know the whole package before you criticise the price. If youndon't want niceties then go for the cheap days. In the end it is the same bit of tarmac.

By the way Palmer sport do a very good early eveing deal in teh summer at their track complex at Thruliegh in Bedfordshire. £135 for sessions between 4:30 and 8 pm followed by BBQ. If you want an instructor they cost £15 per session. Big advantage is ther are no gravel traps or banks to hit. If you run wide or spin it is concrete or grass. Did one earlier this month, great fun in my 92 Legacy Turbo. Audi RS4 owner said I was too qucik for him in the twisty bists. He blew past me on the straight eventually with his 380 bhp vs my 197 :-)

the last dono track day i did, run by the track themselves had 7 (yes seven) cars on track all day!!!

I do a lot of the trackzone days at dono, great value and always well run with guys like Rob Mac on hand.

I have used easytrack too, did Rockingham with them last weekend and doing Oulton on the 4th august. Always well run. I get bored of the bull****, we can intimidate you if we have to blah blah at the briefing though. Doesnt impress me boys. LOL

Thumbs up

John,
I did the Donny the Saturday before the SIDC trackday then the SIDC event. I was a bit concerned with the mix of cars but as a track virgin everyone was really curtiuos I was even taken around in a 355 boyhood dream, sad but true.
I think you were having a good play with a Big powerful Porsce but he couldn't catch you I was the only scoob on the track till Hippy took me around and showed me the proper way I new I was slow around Craner's.
Make a short story long what ever you pay you'll enjoy every minute of it

Babber/If you do not wish to join SIDC there are Easytrack and Motorsport-Events they do charge a little extra, but you just email them and thats it your on track. I have tried 3 times to get on an SIDC track days and failed ever time. This is why I always use other companies track days. Perhaps now SIDC have a new web site I may get better luck.

Bob,

Strange you've not managed to get on SIDC track days, I've got on all 3 I've wanted to so far. Just need to book asap and as far ahead as you can.

I've been on Easytrack Airfield events that were good fun, and not bad value for £79. I'm doing 2 in the next couple of months with them, Aug 25th and Sep 29th at Wroughton.

Fun fun fun.

Simon.

Hi Gregh
In the early days when I was a member of SIDC I found out about the track days much to late and they were always fully booked. Tried twice at Donnington and once a Wroughton. (Bet Pete and Anders would want to forget this one. ) The emails from SIDC gradually stopped. This is the reason I never rejoined. Most of the lads in the SW have done a few trackdays with Easytrack/Motorsport-events I do not know any who have done a SIDC track day. Says it all really.
I have now rejoined (just for the tax disc holder) as they have a better up to date website/forum. We should all hear about the trackday at the same time now.

Cool

I am an SIDC member and have had no problems in getting on any trackdays,I have also just done a trackday with Tracksense (20th Jul Pembrey) and found it to be well organised and good value for money at £125.
Cheers Paul.

It pays to know who will be at track days. Often used to be worth a bit extra so as not to have a loonie in a cossie spinning in front of you!

Looking forwards to getting back in to the swing with 1st track day in MY01 on 10th...any of you guys got joining instructions yet?
