I left home just after 6 this morning but only got about 2 miles before the trailer decided to part comapny with the van, collect a couple of bollards in the middle of the road before being stopped by a large steel pole... Unfortunately my car on the trailer decided not to stop when the trailer did (despite being in gear, with handbrake on, and held down by 4 very large ratchet straps) and went straight over the winch gear, jockey wheel etc and landed in the middle of the road. Didn't do it the world of good!!!!






Haven't checked underneath yet, but its done the lip spoiler, bumper (front and rear) headlight, sidelight, indicator, air con rad, coolant rad, sump, drivers mirror, fron crossmember, and god knows what else. least I was OK (I stopped 50 yards up the road when I heard the almighty bang behind me).

Commiserations M8,What a disaster,Why did it break loose ? was it just not on properly or did something break. I do a fair bit of towing and this has to be your worst nightmare come true! Thank god it didnt happen on a busy motorway. Hope you get it sorted soon m8

Thanks for the comments. I guess the trailer just wasn't hooked on right, though I would have sworn beforehand it was! There appears to be no damage to the hitch or ball. Now comes the fun with the insurance company, as my policy specifically states that I am covered to drive other CARS, but probably not vans. I can feel a fight coming on!
