RAC MSA Sprint at North Weald 25th Sept 2005
There is an RAC MSA sprint with a featured Jap car category at North Weald Airfield on Sunday the 25th September 2005.
My brother Spence, who posts on here as Sprint Chief, organises 2 sprint meetings a year at North Weald Airfield for the Harrow Car Club. We are currently promoting a class for roadgoing Jap import cars (A3J) that wouldnt normally be allowed under RAC MSA regulations as they dont appear in the production car lists of the nominated motoring journals of the time. A certain amount of modification is allowed, but the category is intended for genuine roadgoing vehicles with an MoT. (See http://www.motorsport.demon.co.uk/TT05SRs.doc for more detail on the tech regs and an entry form).
I do both sprints every year in a 93 WRX with a decat, induction and scoobyecu. I usually beat all the regular competitors in Cosworths but have a bit of trouble with this guy in a 350 bhp Evo 6
It costs £53 to enter and those without a licence will need to apply for a non-race national B, available at http://www.msauk.org/uploadedfiles/m...Licence64k.pdf . It costs £32 and can be used for the rest of the year and is possible to apply for on the day. Membership of an eligible club (of which Harrow CC is one) is the last thing needed, usually costing in the region of £10-15. For that you get a minimum of 5 runs, 2 practice and 3 electronically timed with the best to count. I think this is a more rounded test of car and driver than drag racing and would be great to see some of the Scoobynet community there. Please feel free to mention this to any other Jap car enthusiasts that would like to try entry level motorsport. I'll be talking to some of the performace mags about a feature if the response is good.
UK turbos are more than welcome to enter the regular A3 category. Wilder, slick-shod cars will be eligible in higher categories.
Please post any questions you have here and we will do our best to answer them. I hope to see some of you there.
Cheers
Andy Stevens

Thanks for posting this up!
I'm trying to get a video of a kit car going around North Weald, just want to get the approval of the web host before putting it up.
In the meantime, here is a piccie of kwakman sitting on the line waiting to put a time in. Don't think you've seen this one have you Andy?

As you can see, the airfield is wide open, plenty of opportunity to explore the limits of your car and have some fun, but with a competitive edge you won't find at track days.

I ought to look in this section more often or I'll keep missing these threads
I posted a similar one here: http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/showthread.php?t=454746 but with no takers
How about you guys doing another next week? You must already have the necessaries so just the entry fee to find.

Contact Johnnystorm, you'll need to join SELOC but that's very worthwhile
Hope to see you next Sunday, so far there's only 2 in the class.

I am already a memeber of Harrow Car Club; do they have invited clubs or are they affiliated to a particular championship? Its a pain when you have to get membership for one sprint, esp at the end of the season!
Ill follow the link up.

Nice meeting you at NW Andy. It was a good day out and a nice trophy you got there and well deserved Congratulations!!
If you have a look on SELOC there's a good pic of your car shedding plumes of smoke from the rear tyres. Oh. and one of mine being driven rather more sedately
Hope to meet up again.

Smoke from the rears? Thatll be under braking then
Let me know if you are going to somehting else, I might tag along.
