MLR open pit lane trackday @ Castle Combe
#1
The latest MLR trackday is being held at the fast 2 mile Castle Combe circuit in Wiltshire on Monday 22nd September.
The hugely popular MLR format of open pit lane, free instruction from our team of professional ARDS qualified instructors and restricted numbers being taken on the day is the same as always, and will ensure maximum tracktime for everyone – and everyone is welcome!
The cost for the whole day is only £149, and bookings can be taken online through the MLR Shop http://www.lancerregister.com/mlr_shop.php, or by cheque sent to PO Box 2740, Radstock, BA3 2XZ
Additional drivers are £35 each and passengers a fiver both of which can be paid for on the day.
Other services will include onsite photographer, tyre supplier and helmet hire. I’m also waiting to here if Competition Car Insurance will be able to attend the day to offer insurance for anyone who requires it. Please note that the noise limit for the day is 100db.
Hope to see you there, but if you have any questions please post them here, or email me at darin@lancerregister.com
Cheers,
Darin

There are still some places available if anyone would like to come along with their Scoob - or whatever you have!
Open pit lane and free ARDS instruction all day - it doesn't get any better (or probably cheaper!) at Castle Combe!
Book online @ www.lancerregister.com or call me on 01761 417602

Have there been some changes over the last 12 months or so as the last MLR track day I did at Donno was plagued by idiots?

Hi Tony,
Yes, we did suffer a couple of fools when you attended Donington "2001", but a lot has happened since then at the request of our regular drivers, and we've introduced changes which have improved the quality of the day for those taking part.
I'd say the standard of driving on the MLR days was now very good -but please ask others who do trackdays with a variety of organsiers for their independant opinion, eg: Mellow?
The 22nd will have a max of 50 cars taking part, and we are able to run 20 on the circuit at any one time, which simply means there will be a massive amount of tracktime available for everyone who attends.
Add to this free instruction from ARDS qualified instructors throughout the day, Tyre Work in attendance to resolve any tyre issues, Competition Car Insurance in attendance and Mitsubishi Motors who will have two Evo8s on track throughout the day as well as customer demo cars, as well as one on display for people to view and it has the makings of a great day!
There are still a few places available - hope you can make it.

I think in truth MANY trackday companies suffered at the hands of a few mindless idiots up until say 12 months ago, many companies fell by the wayside, the good reputable one's did not but what they did is through the National meeting of trackday companies they set down some hard and fast rules and changes such as having limited numbers in total AND out on track also along with each company communicating with each other when one of theses "idiots" became a problem thus making it nigh on impossible for that individual to attend a trackday.
I have been doing MLR trackdays for over 3 years now and each one attended has been nothing less than relaxed, professional and well organised....most attending are "regulars" and we all know each others cars, abilities etc... (although my bl00dy car's change that often even I can't keep up ), they are as much as a social event as a trackday with many friends made and good advice and info taken and given.
MLR also ALWAYS run an open pit lane format...which means no-one is out there trying to go as fast as they can for as many laps as they can for that 20 min session duration....they can come and go as they please..warm the car up AND cool it down accordingly
Castle Coombe is a fantastic circuit and to be able to do this for the price which MLR are offering it at on an open pit lane format is more than good value for money.
Many SIDC peeps attend MLR days due to the demise of the SIDC trackdays....we were at one point going to join forces but SIDC being SIDC didn't get their act together at the time
I am in no way associated with Darin or the MLR apart from being a happy customer whose experience on the trackday circuit/community gives me first hand knowledge on who is worthy of my hard earned and who is not !
So....see you there

Splitter,
The 'norm' at Combe is 6 or 12 cars on track, but because I'm only interested in running an open pit lane format trackday I have to be able to run a higher number of cars - as this also allows me to keep the price sensible. (If I was to run open pit lane with only 6 cars allowed on the track I'd have to charge over £350 each!!)
My personal opinion is that this also makes for a better trackday, as there are always more cars circulating on track which also makes for a better atmosphere for everyone (drivers, passnegers AND spectators), as six or even twelve cars get lost on 2 miles of tarmac - and in my experience drivers and passengers don't like feeling as if they are on an empty track, and it can certainly be quite boring for everyone spectating whilst they're waiting to see another car!

Ok guys the day on the sixth is arranged by me its a six car day
Group sessions in the morning with an open pitlane in the afternoon with 15 min slots or non timed depending on what drivers prefer drivers will be asked there preference on the day at the brief. 24 cars are either booked or finalised. The cost I have charged is based on the cost of circuit hire divided equally by the number of cars attending. The gamble I take is if I dont get numbers which in the past has meant me wedging the shortfall. This
time it looks like that isnt going to happen thanks to the support of all on this forum and the SIDC forum.
