Hi all,
As the heading suggests, were after people to enter the show and shine competition on Sunday.
We have renamed the competition from "Concours" to Show and Shine", due to the fact that the "concours" bit seemed to scare the hell out of everyone, especially me!!! (For those that know me)
None of this wheels off and axle stands milarky.
Basically all that is required is a nice clean car on the day (But not to be too discriminating, dirty cars are allowed as well, if you have no shame)
That way it will be a little more enjoyable for everyone, and give those that have never done this kind of thing before the opportunity to do so. Basically a bit of a laugh
There are 3 Trophies up for grabs, 1st, 2nd 3rd and there may also be some other goodies as well.
If interested please post below, so we can keep an eye on the numbers. We have capped the total number of cars to enter to 50.
When you arrive at Donington, you may be asked if you want to enter as well, just incase you change your mind.
I shall be trying to marshall the event on the day, as well as entering my own car.
Don't worry peeps, I won't judge my own car, honest

As per Midlands thread Muddy. What time will I need to get there for this? I need to know so that I can control (yeah right!) the amount of beer I have Saturday so I can get up Sunday.
Cheers!

Judging is being done at 1pm now.
When you arrive you should be asked if your entering the Show and Shine comp. if your not asked tell them, you should be given a judging form to fill in. You should also be told where to go.
Bring the form to me, I'm normally beside my motor, the red shiny one, with "muddy" No. plates.
Get there early so you won't get disappointed, it opens at 9:30am so be there at the dot or 10 minutes early. Remember we are only allowing 50 entries.
No money required for the show and shine, just have to pay entrance fee.
Jimmy, yes engine bays are looked at.....so get cleaning

Hi Muddy,
Can you save me a place as I'm coming from Southampton and will proberbly arrive too late to qualify for the first 50 entry's. I'm not going on track so might aswell make the journey worth while by entering the show and shine.
Cheers Colin.

Ok, just a short list of those that have expressed a wish to enter the Show and Shine tomorrow:
J.Riddell
Stevie B
John Felstead
Kevin Stanton
Colin C
Dave T
Allan P
Nigel S
555 Rob
Boxerflat4
Hope I haven't missed any one out.
See you all tomorrow hopefully.
Let me know who you are when you arrive, it's no good if you just park up and then look around the show without handing in the form, your car won't be judged.

Thanks to Craig and Pete for this part of the day. Was determind not to take it too seriously but still found myself walking circles around the car looking for the odd blemish.........
Some of the cars were a very high standard, well done guys for the effort.
1st 2nd and 3rd were all well deserved but If I could have walked away with one of these cars it would have been the P1 belonging to Dave.T (2nd place) superb.
Cheers
Allan

Excellent stuff, thanks to Criag (hope the sunburn is not too bad) and Pete.
Thanks to all who entered as well, there was some seriously well looked after and cared for motors there and we all deserve at least a pat on the back for this I think.

Greg,
It was me who won.
Good effort was made by Muddy to organise a good competition. I did mention to him about next years having a seperate competition for nearly standard Scooby's and a seperate class for more heavily modified Scooby's. The standard class could be run like yesterdays event, as some of the newer Scooby's were far cleaner and better condition than mine and therefore should really of won if it were a true concourse competition. The modified class could be run as seperate category's, 1 prize for best paint, engine, interior, ice and Scooby of the show.
Had a great time, well worth the trip from Southampton, I only decided to come along Saturday afternoon.
Cheers Colin.

A belated thanks to Craig for organising the event and everybody else that entered,it was nice to see something being put on for the non track people.Perhaps separtate classes "could" be the way to go next year with an overall winner, but it is only a bit of fun for us and would be more work for the judges.Well done to Colin for coming 1st,who and what car came 3rd?
Thanks again Craig and roll on next year..
Regards
Dave

Cheers for the kind words, much appreciated.
Well done Colin and Dave T, can't remember myself who came 3rd, sorry if it was anybody on here, please let us know.
As for seperate classes, I spoke to many people about this, and it would have been my intention to do so, however with the limitations of not knowing how many cars were actually going to enter, it could have blown back in our faces. Only 10 or so people expressed an interest here on Scoobynet.
It was only by chance and my brilliant selling skills that enable us to have over 20 cars enter.
Seeing that it was the first of it's kind at an SIDC event, it enable us to run it almost fault free, with the exception of being moved from our first location.
It will be my intention to do a Standard class and moddified class next year.
Apologies go out to the Standard cars
Thanks again for all those who entered, seeing from your post's you all enjoyed it.
Also thanks go out to Pete C and John B who judged the cars, Pete told me later that he was very impressed by the standard of the cars that entered.
So a pat on the back to you all.
A small charge is also a good idea, say £2 per car, this way more trophies available, may be some prizes etc.
Looking forward to next year.
Will start polishing the car tomorrow for that
