Swapping injectors on bugeye
Due to a continuing problem with the car running on three cylinders, I will be swapping around the injectors between the suspect cylinder and a good cylinder and see if it is an injector problem.
How do i remove injectors? Do i need to remove fuel rail or is there a simple way. Anything to look out for when reinstalling to ensure no leaks?

If it is a standard set-up, then god help you !
There are metal "shields" over the rails, that are a pig to get off.
Smear top and bottom seals with vaseline before re-fitting, AndyF told me to !

Ditto with dunx, stripping down to get to OE injectors out is about 4 hours, I think this is what scoobymania told me when I was picking up new injectors. My approach was to remove everything and replace the OE serial fuel lines with the APS fuel distribution system which can be found on APS Products - International Specification Vehicles. This negates the known fault of cylinder three running lean due to be at the end of the fuel line. I also fitted the compressor intake pipe as you need the inlet manifold off to fit it. Once this has been done it is easy to get the injectors out as I found out when I found that a o-ring was split and leaking.

sounds like someone had removed all the metal covers prior then, as according to Scoobymania once these are out of the way the injectors can be done in a hour. The 4 hours is to what Scoobymania told me it would take initially.

Just changed mine. 3 1/2 hrs. And its a right a@~e of a job.
Took it for a drive and it runs ok but starts spluttering at higher revs. Is this because its overfuelling or is there something wrong?
I now have a walbro and pink injectors on a standard WRX so will it be ok to run till I get it mapped later in the month? I thought they would run fine, just not at full duty.

Took about an hour to get the passenger side ones out. Would hate to try the drivers side looks like a lot more things to unbolt.
Will send the suspect injector for a checkover but noticed that the oring does not look in good condition, not split but looks to be in a bad state. Are these o-rings easy to get hold of?

If you have swapped your stock injectors for larger ones you should get it mapped sooner rather than later. The injector scaler and latencies will need to be adjusted. You are likely to be running very rich thus the spluttering at higher rpms. Do you have a wideband on the car?
I've decided to swap them back over till the day of the remap (20th Jan)
Its only 3hrs out my life and wont cost anything compared to days and £££££ replacing a melted piston.

Shouldn't melt if it's running rich....
However how much oil is left after being hosed with petrol is another matter !

The dreaded bore wash!! Not worth the risk Dunx. Plus it was running like a bag of nails. I'm not looking forward to the 100 mile run to AndyF's with them in and a VF30 fitted.
Changed them back today. 1hr. Dont have to remove the battery either. (Probably because I didnt refit half the bolts on the metal covers though )

Drove my last WRX back from Harveys in Darlington to Manchester with Pinks fitted, just keep it off boost and drive it like your granny and get it mapped asap u will be ok. Right im about to attempt my first newage injector change, any advice or guides would be helpful, fitting used 650's (were in my old car) do i need new "o" rings fitting and i believe there is a CERTAIN WAY to insert the injectors

Drivers side looks hard but isnt. Its a bit nerve shredding bending the ful rails to get the injectors out. As for a 'certain' was to put them in, that must be the locating lug on the grey plug that fits into the fuel rail. Once you see it, youll understand.
If you have basic mechanical knowledge youll be fine.
