Standard prodrive stainless exhaust
Have a standard prodrive exhaust if anyone's interested

No holes nothing perfect
££ or swap for some lowering springs

I see, fair enough.
Around 30mm or so would be around right, you wouldn't want to be running out of travel and hitting the bump stop... especially with little one on board.
Not that coilovers have to be harsh... that is just a mis-conception.
I am not too sure what to suggest as I haven't really been involved with lowering springs for the WRX.
I normally recommend Eibach, but it seems there are a few concern with them so I won't suggest anything unless I am sure of it.

I thought if I go for springs see how I get on with them then see bout coilovers maybe after xmas
Eibach <<< yea people say good and bad about them don't think they lower to much eather
to be honest I did have coilovers on my old focus st and they were a soft as original shocks n springs they were just high adjustment ones not damping but were ok :-)

I know it sounds a bit bias, but if you think you will want coilovers in the end, just skip the lowering springs.
It will save you money in the long run as you don't end up having to buy the springs, install it, and uninstall the springs for the coilovers.
But if you think you will be happy with lowering springs, then game on.
Just what I normally say to other people because if you know what you want, there is no point getting a "stop gap" as it will just waste money in the long run.
Just a thought.
