Default Hawkeye STI alingment setup

Hi all

A couple of weeks ago, I wanted to get my car setup for an up and coming 2 day track day at Le Mans (Maison Blanche and Bugatti circuits).

After doing some research, I came up with the following setup:

Front camber: -2.5 degrees
Rear camber: -2.0 degrees
Front toe: +0.02 degrees (toe in)
Rear toe: +0.02 degrees (toe in)
Front caster: No adjustable but as much as I could get

I gave these to the garage and this is what the car came back with:

Before:

After:

So I did the track days and when I took off my slicks to put my road tyres back on for the drive home, the front's were destroyed:

Looking at the tyres, the front wheels have the inner halves worn down to the canvas whereas the rears appear to be in better shape but you can tell that the outer edges were sitting better as they were worn more than the inner edges but luckily not down to the canvas!

Does anyone have an idea what could be causing the excess wear?

I was thinking about changing the toe to be dead straight on all 4 wheels (0 degrees), changing the front camber from -2.50 to -2.00 and changing the rear camber from -1.50 to -2.00. What are people's opinion on this?

Here is the spec of the car:

Suspension:
AST Sportline II coilovers
Whiteline 22mm non-adjustable front anti-roll bar
Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear anti-roll bar set to medium
Whiteline anti-lift kit
Front strut brace
Rear strut brace

Brakes:
Standard 4 pot Brembo’s with Godspeed 2 piece floating discs and Carbonne Lorraine RC5 pads
Standard 2 pot Brembo’s on the rear with Godspeed one piece grooved discs and EBC orange stuff pads
Goodridge braided hoses front and rear
ATE Super Blue brake fluid

Wheels:
Standard Subaru STI alloys (painted white :-)) with used Dunlop slicks in 235/610/17

Engine:
BHP - 377
Ft Lbs - 429

Hi there

I would say yours Camber settings can cause this excessive tyre wear on front.
I would try different camber settings as first and second 0' toe

We are running similar camber at front -2.00' and -1.50' at rear and we don't have excessive tyre wear on the road tyres or on the track tyres

What compound of the slicks you are running ?

I have a very similar setup re chassis and brakes on my MY06 STI which I track about once a month.
I think I am about -1.25 front and -1.5 rear for camber, so my guess would be to lose some front camber if you don't like buying tyres.
However, everything is a compromise once you decide you want to track you car.

They have read your data wrong, 2.5d should convert to 2d 30' on their machine, not 2d 50'..... That's to deep in my opinion.

Ha, I never even realised!

So it's running closer to -3d front and -2d rear...

I did book it in with someone else but he had been off the week previous and someone in the garage used his kit and forgot to turn off the lasers so the batteries were flat. He charged them up but only 3 charged and one of the batteries died!

I will get it changed when he's back from holiday.

The camber on the front could certainly do with reducing, I was thinking of around -2d 0' or should I look at reducing it further?

I feel that the camber on the rear could do with increasing to level out the wheels and provide more even wear. Possibly to -2d 30'.

What are your thoughts on toe? Should I stick with what I have or make them both true (i.e. 0d 0').

Thanks

Hi there

We never run slicks, but I would say you are running too much camber and I would definitely run less camber like at front and rear and try something like 0 toe and front camber around -2.00' and rear around 1.5-1.7'(we running at rear 1.5')

Those above yours settings I would run more on the rear wheel drive/RWD(although on the RWD I would lower rear camber)

Your camber looks excessive - almost 3° negative up front. Looks the likely culprit for scalping the tyres' insides

How is the handling?
