Default Coilover Identification

Can anyone help me trying to identify these coilovers I have on my car? All I can make out is that they are Tein's but obviously there are many versions etc..

I can see where the height can be adjusted but can the dampening be adjusted too?

Here's some pics, if they're not good enough I could take some more;

I also experienced some knocking from the rear and has got progressively worse over the last few weeks. I've checked the rear ARB, droplinks, wheel bearings and they were fine, no play in them etc. The last thing I tried was to see if the strut bolts were loose which they were, the last bolt I tightened literally came loose and popped off in my socket (pic below) I am aware of over-tightening so I didn't force the bolt! I assume my car isn't safe to drive now, is that the case?

Do I need new struts or just top mounts? What are your recommendations as I'm not too savvy with suspension!

They look like a fixed platform strut..Ie no dampening adjustment, Not sure but I think you can get new studs for them rather than replacing the top mount.

Hi there

Not sure on the coilovers make, but you can easily recognize them by colours(BC are black,Tein and few others are green etc)

But from pics if they're Tein, then you have Basic model, studs for them I would contact over here Alyn@AS Perfomance

You running OE Top mounts from pics and you will probably need Top Mounts nuts/bolts which you can buy like from dealers or from as above I've mentioned Alyn@AS Performance

Thanks mate,

I was thinking of replacing them as they are too hard, now if they can't be adjusted I will definitely replace!

On those yours you should be able to adjust at least ride height, which should help if you lowering the car

Damping of the coilovers not sure,if you need, many people have damping on their, but actually never tried to adjust them

Tein are known to be hard

Oh yeah, they're hard!

Any suggestions on how to move forward? I've read about the KYB & Eibach combo etc. but I'm not sure what to get. I just want something that is firm but not head rattling hard mostly for road use with 2 - 3 track days a year.

Cheers

Hi there

I would go with as above you suggested KYB with Eibach(Pro-R kit)

KYB AGX I would suggest which seems have great reviews, which I would choose

Have look on the Camskill or eBay they selling AGX

But not sure if they're available for new age,if not but still you can use classic AGX on yours, difference is only at rear top mounts(AGX don't have Top mounts, you can or you will need buy separate Top mounts)
