So at the moment I'm running STI suspension, but there's far too much room between the tyre and arch. I want something the will go straight on the STI shocks. I've seen that eibach do a set for around the £220 mark which drops the car all round by 30mm approx. Just wanted to see what you guys thought and what you may have used/experienced in the past. I used Tein 'S' springs, got them off a group buy & very happy with them, the ride is not too hard

i have ultra SR#s and eibach pro springs fitted on my blob and they lowered it more than i expected.

H&R Springs are good, I didnt find Eibachs that low.

So basicaly you rely on the above replies??? Dude, have a dig a bit deeper, and for the tein springs is a big , their lower the car to much strech the suspension fok your shocks and top mounts eventualy. The struts are not traveling enough and the handling will be **** on bumpy roads.... the understeer gets bigger as well but that depends on a situation really. Eibachs are ok but even then is not ideal as you have to add some other mods ( bump steer kit )to make the suspension work perfectly.... Subarus dont like to be lowered almost at all... That's why people like John Felstead who does know abit about handling kept the original sti springs and shocks on his past sprints... Arnie_1 on here knows his stuff , use a search option for their threads .... Dont jump on the same boat as everyone...Good luck

Thanks for the replies people, the springs/suspension has taken a back seat as the bottom end has crapped out on me so getting round to sorting that at the minute.

its mainly the height, just looks a liitle high at the mo but it is running tyres too thin so the gap between tyre and arches looks huge :-/.It'll be running 225/40/18s

About the best springs,not sure,we are run Pi springs which has been OK,Eibach seems are good,many people hate the Tein,but know few people who running them and they're pleased,everyone can/have different opinion on that and everyone is different,if we are the same,world will be so boring

running spax springs on my bugeyebeen on three yrs now and no probs

 

would agree that the Tein S-Tech springs don't to anything for the handling. they are mostly for aesthetic gain!

had them on my classic and won't be going back, even with supporting modifications they weren't great. but we live and learn...

 

Anyone got opinions on the Prodrive springs?

My tuppence worth on the Prodrive springs is that they are excellent. Much better than the standard sti springs, handle a little better but ride much better.

 

I'll say the Prodrive's are a good bet.

They don't overlower, are firm enough and I like their progression

 

I guess it's preference..I did like Prodrives driving normaly, a bit better tighter, but didnt on a blast..Still to much body roll , too soft.... My Eibachs are not ideal either , a bit bumpy on slow motion but nothing to much. To soft on Cadwell we did this weekend but that might be the case of combination soft springs and tired oem shocks. But they still a bit harder than prodrives when you give it a go...So Eibachs for me . I've tried to dig an info about Swift springs( Jura advised) , US guys use them alot and are very happy, but then importing them here is to much money and i'm not sure their much better than Eibachs ... I think i'm staying with Pro R kit but replacing oem to KYB Ultra Sr's ... should do the job for fast road stuff...

 

Hi. THE BEST springs (In my opinion) you can get for a Classic are P1 springs. That's what I have on my V2 Sti. Eibach (red) P1 springs. These work perfect with OEM shocks and lower the car about 20-25mm. Handling and ride quality is absolutely PERFECT !
Was told by few people on here that these make a very good combo with adjustable KYB shocks.

You'll be VERY lucky if you find a set these days :-(

Had them P1 speings/Kyb red shocks on the classic. Perfect combo IMHO...I'd wish they've done smtn like that for a new age...

 

Yeah, it's a crying shame there's not something similar in new age flavour. Choice there is extremely limited. There are a few US companies with decent offerings...

But the P1 spring is just perfect for UK fast roads. It only lowers by 1" and is firm enough with just the right progression for soaking things up, especially in the rougher stuff.

Of all the Impreza's I've owned, the classic with this 'P1' set-up seems to the epitome of what the Impreza was/is...

Most of the current offerings from Eibach etc are too soft and over lower, including the worst of the lot Tein S-Techs.

 

Spot on, when i had a classic it wasnt an issue so i was concentrating of omproving some other corner of the car. Now when i've got a new age , 7th month i'm just digging the perfect shock/spring combo from different forums all over the world. NASIOC is full of knowledgable people and they have a couple of options BUT, haveing read and spoken to few people and the reviews sound very simillar to Eibachs which makes no sense of bringing them here because the cost is very important for me to as well... The only better things them springs do is distributed hight front/back which doesnt effect (strech)the chassis (sorry for my english )... And there no more equivalent unfortunately, Coloivers are just not yet for me ....so i'll keep what i've got now, just waiting for Ultra Srs to come sometime this week...
