Default Spring Upgrade

Please dont bite my head off, iv'e searched for a while about this but still a bit in the dark!
I have a 2004 STI, and love it. I think the handling is very good as it is, (i had an overpowered FWD car before) but with all the suspension bits and pieces people throw at their cars, i guess it is there to be impoved.

Now, ideally, id like a static drop on springs alone, past experience with coilover on a road car doesn't do it for me.
Ive read about sticking to a 25mm drop and anymore upsetting the car (particularly bonesetter's posts). My drive is uphill and i have about that much clearance before it will scrape!

So, if i go for the eibach springs on my standard sti shocks, is that going to see an improvement? I will start to add ARBs and an ALK but in stages.
Any help would be appreciated!
Ben

You have standard Sti Suspension as it is? AFAIK they are actually already slightly lower than "standard" WRX suspension.

Are you dropping it for looks or handling (really - be honest with yourself!).

If there's nothing actually wrong with the handling as is, I'd start out with a rear ARB and go from there.

I'd be lying if i said I didnt want the looks, but ultimately want the handling improved. Besides, my drive dictates that I can't be excessively low!
So will the eibachs mess up the handling? Wouldn't mind them being a bit firmer tbh.

I don't think Eibachs will mess up the handling, they're quite a modest drop. I'm just wondering if they're actually any drop at all on an Sti! I think the Sti was 20-30mm lower than the WRX anyway.

If you get Sti specific Eibachs, then I'm sure they'll be fine but of course your drop is "fixed" and can't be adjusted, so if there are any problems or you don't like the looks then you're stuck with it until you change all the springs.

Uprated rear ARB will help to cancle out any understeer you may encounter!!!
Id suggest an adjustable option as then you can decide what setting you want it at!!!!

ARB is on the list 100%.
I thought id start with the springs, as the saying goes "an inch makes all the difference", but im guessing with this it may not be the case.
