Default Shock refurb problem

I have a spare set of rear shocks which I am planning to regrease. I have an issue in that I cannot get the bottom nut off. The nut and thread turn together. Any tips or tricks?

I clamped mine tight with a ratchet strap. If you use an impact wrench it helps to spin em off. the problem is the locating peg inside the shocker is very shallow and hardly has any hold at all.

I used a dremel with wire brush attachment to remove any paint or grime on the nut. then use an impact wrench to zap the nut off.
