Front shocks stuffed ?
Morning
I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice on a front clunking noise on my brothers ('04 WRX, 58k miles) when going over bumps and potholes. Only mods on his car are 18" wheels + exhaust. The clunking appears to be coming from the front left and right.
I've read through many threads and discovered it could well be worn out end links but I checked them yesterday and they seem just fine with no undo movement and the nuts are all tight. Bush mounts are good too. I've used some rubber grease on the bushes just to be sure but it's not them and the clunking is still there. All other suspension stuff seems just fine and the shock nuts are also nice and tight.
I've done the usual bump test on the corners and that seems fine but could it still be the shocks that are goosed possibly due to worn out bearings etc?
many thanks

Thanks for the replies.
All sorted now.
The drop links seemed fine that's why I thought it was the shocks so I decided to remove the drop links and go for a drive and hey presto the clunking had gone. An examination of the drop links, this time off the car, showed some very slight play in the ball/sockets which wasn't noticeable when they were fitted on the car.
Whiteline drop links now fitted.
Thanks
