Default Bc knocking- under 12 months old.

I have bought a set of bc coilovers off her from a chap who had them on his bug eye they were bought in feb this year! I have just fitted them to mine and one if the rears us knocking like a pig, does the 12 month warranty still apply! Some people have said they do new top mounts to stop the knocking on the blob eye?? What should I be looking at doing??

Hi,

Not surprised you're having problems, BC did different kits for the bugeye (01-02) and blobeye (>03) cars since the OEM top mounts are different.

I think you have two options:

1) Get a different set of BC springs which allow you to use the >03 OEM rubber top mounts (I think I've got a set of these springs in the garage which could be for sale).

2) Get a different set of BC top mounts which allow you to use the existing BC springs (not sure these will fit a >03 car?).

BC were selling the revised springs & top mounts at cost to people who had knocking issues - they weren't free because it wasn't necessarily a design issue, just a noise issue with the solid BC top mounts transmitting more noise into the cabin.

Personally I've got an 02 with the BC rubber top mounts and it's fixed the knocking noise completely.

Your best bet is to call Bren or Kev at Apex and go through the options; they are usually keen to help get issues sorted.

Cheers, Mark

Quick correction:

For >03 you need the new BC springs (wider at the top) but can reuse the OEM rear top mounts.

For 01-02 you need the new BC springs and the new BC rear rubber top mounts.

Cheers, Mark

My cousin has this same problem with his which are under 12mnths old and is still trying to get the problem resolved.
He reckons if they are still under warranty can't the top mounts be exchanged?
