Old shape/New age suspension
Went to Prodrive sale last week and picked up a full set of New standard struts & springs for a new age Impreza that had been stripped off a recce car.
As my '93 WRX has done 70k now I was hoping that they would fit.
Anyone know if they will fit before I start taking the car to bits?

I almost brought them!
I always thought that the fronts are OK (STi part No#'s are the same), but require old style top mounts for the rears.
Just get the spring seat located in the right place.
Spring rates and damper valving are different to the classic cars. I've no idea how well they work, if you are doing the job or labour's cheap, be a pioneer and give it a go!
Alan.

The best description I have seen for a while for rebuilding springs & struts can be found here: "http://www.scoobynet.co.uk/bbs/thread.asp?ThreadID=71481&Page=1"
Make sure the lower end of the spring fits in the depression in the lower seat and in the cut-out in the upper rubber doughnut shaped insulator. The mark I use is the hole drilled in the top hat to face outwards. Try not to move the doughnut in relation to the top hat, if it does come out with the old spring use the pressure marks from where it use to sit to locate it back.
I agree that track is different on the New Age, but the guy I spoke to at Prodrive said with the old style rear mounts the stuts are suitable for the classic shape.
So who knows?
