I am running 40mm Gold Series dampers with their standard double progressive 225lb (front) and 180lb (rear) spring rates. These are too soft in my opinion – and I hear that Mellow Yellow agrees with this.

Apparently DMS can’t supply any different springs.

Does anybody have any experience of using alternative manufacturers’ springs with DMS dampers?

Has anybody got different spring rates to those mentioned above – as I understood last year they offered any rates you wanted?

DMS offers 265/225 springs for the early Impreza as part of an uprated 40mm Gold setup offered through M2 performance. The same suspension for the late Impreza uses 225/225 springs--why the difference, I have no idea. The damping is also somewhat stiffer throughout the adjustment range, and the rebound damping is stiffer in proportion to the jounce damping.

Ring me if you want to chat about this.

I have some more springs on order from DMS through Scoobymania.

I agree that for heavy/hard track use they are a tad too soft but superb for fast road use

I assume you are running dampers on 10 clicks but do you know what spring rates they are? It is printed on them. If they are harder than 225 front and 180 rear AND they are too hard for you maybe we could do swap?? I use the car for competition so not looking for much comfort on the road.

When I spoke to Jamie at DMS ages back, there wasnt a problem sourcing springs back then ???

The springs offered as standard are way too soft (IMHO) even on the 50mm struts. I know you can source uprated springs in the 700lbs region.

I ran 450 fronts with 275 rears

It's true - you can get different DMS spring rates. Thanks to Town End Garage mine have just arrived in the country.
