Depends on the year, but newage (2001 to 2005) sti's are inverted and are poo cos they fail. Std wrx are not inverted until 2005, then they also become poo cos they also fail.

On classic, the STI shocks are quite a bit firmer than UK turbo (I assume from turbo you mean classic, as you'd have said WRX for newage?), they won't affect ride height, but the STi springs will lower you about 20mm compared to UK Turbo ones.

Is there any way of telling by looking at them?
I bought new genuine Subaru shocks and was told they were for an sti, doesn't matter if they are not coz they are for a classic so will fit anyway.
