Default ive got these on my car, what the hell for

Grayston Coil Spring Assister GE14 from Halfords Price £9.99

only noticed em the other day when it was up on the lifts when I changed the exhaust

what the hell they for?

can I just whip em off, I dont want or need my car to be higher.

i had em on my cossie to stop the rear end bogging down when launching off the lights, cossies have saggy rear end suspension,, maybe yours is a little worn
