Default More "clonking on full lock"

I've noticed this over the last few weeks when reversing only -right or left.

Any ideas ?

Hope it's a cheap one .

I've pasted this from the other "clonking on full lock" thread

"The mechanic said it's a known problem; he gets it driving cars off the ramp in the service bay sometimes; Subaru know about it, don't know what causes it, but not to worry about it"

Do you have coilovers? does it clonk just on full lock or as you turn the wheel??
My clonking was the pillar ball in the top mount of my coilovers getting stuck so the spring was jumping round making a very anoying clonking as i turn the wheel at slow speeds and parking.
Maybe something simular in standard suspension!!!! But dont no for sure.
Hope this helps,

I get this too mate - I was wondering if it was because I'd changed my wheels and tyres from 215/40 17" to 225/40 18" - perhaps a bit of light scrubbing on full lock?? I have also had the car lowered recently - must admit I didn't notice it before that.

It's only noticeable in reverse for me.

I also get loud knocks through my steering column when I hit big bumps in the road, but I'm guessing that's either some of the bushes on the front, or my front drop links.. I need to look at that at some point as it's bloody annoying!

'Spring twang' either with seized/sticky pillow *****, or sticky bearings in stock top mounts, or a miss-assembly of the strut such that the top spring cup can't rotatate freely below the top mount, common cause is not fitting the spacer between the spring seat and the top mount so the seat scrubs on the underside of the top mount.

If you have an sti its the lsd winding up on the front on full lock and causing the tyre to skip over the tarmac. Seen it with my own eyes, the tyre skips.

You quote my comments -- for any who are interested, they can be found in full here: https://www.scoobynet.com/suspension...full-lock.html

An update: I fitted new tyres about 3 weeks ago and the clonking seems to have stopped.

Mine doesnt allow me to turn the wheel unless i give gas (its fine until warmed up) and if i turn/brake at the same time, i get judder in the brake pedal and driver side makes a clonking noise and sounds like its gonna fall off.

Apparently its the track rod end and lower ball joint that needs replacing. will let you know the outcome on monday hopefully

Had the track rod end and lower ball joint replaced, also aligned today. Mechanic said not much wrong with track rod end but he noticed a bit of play, and the lower ball joint seemed fine with him. after all he wasnt the one who diagnosed the problem.

Braking is now fine under steering, however braking on full lock i still get judder and some clonking. Powersteering is still not there unless i give gas. tomorrow im taking it to Power steering services - Power steering specialists - Charlton - http://www.powersteering.co.uk/ *hopefully should be open*
