I have a JDM MY03 STI and just fitted a set of 18's for her as i had to get new boots all round so it seemed a good idea to just get wheels at the same time.

As i fully expected she now needs lowered to look nice... but i dont just want to lower it for that reason.

I have about £600 to spend,

Apex/BC coilovers

Option 2
Tein S-Tech springs, Rear ARB with drop links and Anti lift kit.

I think the S-tech springs would be more that suitable but i'm concerned that using these may cause my rear struts to fail (common knock problem). At the moment i dont have this knocking problem but i fully expect it to happen as it did on my last car.

What do you folks think, which setup would be best.

Not a fan of S-techs, they are a styling aid first and a handling aid second, about 1" lower is all you can go without throwing out thr front geometry (unless you fit roll centre adjusters (about £300).

Why not go with Prodrive pinks? circa 20mm lowered and a proven track record, and certainly well tested on your struts so less likley to lead to knock than the ultra low Teins which will see you hitting the bump stops more often!

Combine them with the ALK pro-lift kit and a rear ARB and you'll be laughing!

If your suspension is tired go Apex.... if not then a decent set of springs, and a rear adjustable ARB with drop-links will get you started, do the geometry as well !
