I'm getting a very loud high pitched squeak from the rear of my T25 setup 05 WRX..

It's so loud it can be heard from the other side of the street..

Sounds like metal on metal and is apparent when going over speed bumps (louder on the down side, if that is relevant?) and hard ridges etc. Similar conditions to ARB/DL related problems, only the sound is different, i.e. not a clunking noise. Also seems to be central, although it's hard to tell for sure.

Had a quick look underneath and nothing obvious, DL/ARB bushes/brackets look in order. I need to get it up in the air and have a good poke around.

The car only passed it's MOT a few weeks ago, although noise wasn't present then. I've also checked silly things like wheels nuts, exhaust etc...

Could it be the rear diff carrier/sub frame, or am I talking cr@p..?

Thoughts please..

 

Right it's handbrake related, so I'm off to brake section..
