Default Handling

I have a 2001 bugeye wrx wagon with 8x18 rims and 225.40.17 tyres. The handling is not quite what I expected the steering is very light indeed and the car feels very vauge. Although it holds the road like a limpit. Its done 80 k miles. Do the wagons handle much differently to the saloons. The car is quite stiff if you jump on a corner and does not bounce back and forth. If I replace the shocks has anyone any recommendations. Thanks.
