Wow, written this a few times in the last 2 weeks! Whiteline must be selling out by now!

I have a tweeked Sti V3. After several tries with different sizes, have settled at:

22 mm front, stock or pillow ball drop links
Rear: 24mm with steel (or alloy for bling factor) drop links and the links fitted to soft or medium setting.
There are 3 holes to choose from on the 24mm bar, the middle is probably the best setting.

While you are under there at the rear, fit the Whiteline heavy duty bush mountings, far far stiffer than the wriggly-tin stock ones.

Use ALL the special white grease provided for the bushes.

totaly agree with 911 m8. its the best set up for road/ track days . you can alter roll stiffness 22mm front will increase roll stiffness by 80% and going to 155% on rear using 24mm and by moving bolts you can make the roll stiffer for track days//// ideal geo

thanks very much both of you!
normally i'll never do track day, mostly dayly and fast road blast .
so you recommend normally 22mm front and 24mm adjustable on mid setting?
i've a stupid question, how the car will feel, i mean would the car behave like some kind of RWD car? is yes i won't do the change as i'm not pleased with RWD

The car will understeer in the wet and dry noticably less as the body roll is seriously reduced and the stiffer rear tends to stop the front ploughing on in a bend.

The car overall will be much more comfortable when cornering as you stay more level. The effect is quite pronounced.

A hard setting on the rear 24mm will make the car more 'BMW' and on the softest setting more inclined towards a FWD.

Hence middle becomes the favorite.

How would this advice change for a type R that is already a bit RWD'ish already?

IMHO:

with 22/24 bars, ease the rear to middle or soft position to ease away from tail happy oversteer to neutral to slight understeer (in the dry)

Check tyre pressures
Check Alignment

If the R has 22/24 with the rear on soft and the car oversteers, then possibly tracking is wrong (hence check alignment )

I am assuming the car is in good condition.

So you think a 24mm arb would be fine for standard road use?

Nope!

24mm rear with a 22mm front is great
A stock front with 22mm rear is good too, just get more body roll when 'enjoying' yourself.

Chris I put a 24mm adjustable rear bar (with drop-links) on first and it was superb, I left mine on BMW setting and I was a bit wary of losing it !
But on medium the car just felt superb !
Best value mod I've made to the car....

Dunx

P.S. Then I got greedy and did the front ALK, Bar and drop-links too ! WOW !

Nope, wrong way round.

Front 22 and rear 24. Both can be had adjustable, but remember you then have to find the right setting.

I have road/raced on 27 front and 24 rear.
To settle it out I had to set the 27 to soft and the 24 to hard. Many were taken aback with this (whiteline) set-up but it did work well enough, but i felt the 22/24 was best (for me and hillclims)

A hillclimb is very much like a very fast B road run.

My opinion is above, and you need to look at all the mods on a car not just the bar(s) for example.

If you feel 24 front and 22 rear will do the trick then go for it!

Try it, it will be superb in the dry !
But very stiff at the front for the wet ?
Only my (humble) opinion...

Exactly.
My 27mm front/24 rear was great in the dry, and awful in the wet.

As 2007 was a bit wet just when I was racing i got fed-up changing the front back to 22 then to 27 then to...

The 22/24 combo is right for all round performance I concluded in the end.

Two other fast Impreza's on the hills also use the 22/24 to great effect, and they never change them.

But, there is fun in trying things as I have over the last 4 years (or 5?).
