Default Near Side Rear Knocking (on a classic). Shock?

I've got a noise! It's progressively got worse over the last couple of weeks. It basically sounds like something loose in the boot banging around. I only hear it best when driving slow over slightly bumpy roads. A bit of searching makes me feel like it might be the rear left shock that is going. But not found many posts where it's a classic that is suffering.

Can anyone confirm what I should be looking for -and more importantly what is causing the noise, as I don't really understand how the rear shocks can make such a noise

If I push the OSR down it rises smoothly. However, if I push the NSR down it kind of feels a bit creaky. This was what made me think it could be the shock and then start searching on here.
