I remember a while back you chose the AVO coilover setup, are you still happy with this setup & what rate springs did buy/use in the end ?

So Sam,

They're very good but avoid them like the plague eh?

Nothing like a bit of good old fashioned scaremongering is there

for **** sake craig will you stop thinking i am having a dig at you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are not the only supplier of AVOs in the uk are you? i don't see scooby mania coming over and saying anything and putting an angry face on!!!?

AVO are very poor quality and i know personally a least one car that had the struts snap on them twice. john (t-uk) just phone falkland and they will tell you how many have had to replace. on the other hand they are very cheap but you get what you pay for.

you tried them on your car did not you. what do you personally think of them ? are they still on. i will accept your opinion. isn't that fair enough.

Sam,

I just thought things may have changed in the last few years and would have valued Stef's opinion as he is a hard driver.

think I'll save my money and start the EVO fund, they seem to handle well as standard

I have to agree with Sam. I had a set of Avo coilovers replaced after about 6 months because they started leaking. Then only 2 months after that they started leaking again!! And then to finish things off one of the rear shocks snapped!! I had quite a bit of trouble getting things sorted out with AVO after this, they weren't to keen to give a second replacement or refund. But the guy's at Falkland got things sorted out in the end

here you go another example of how **** they are. toby i bet you the car felt good when they were working? right that is what i was trying to say here.

if they last stef 6 months plus then they will last anyone though.

john
at the end of the day you get what you pay for and there is no such a thing as a free lunch

Sam,

I wasn't implying you were having a dig, just that I think what you said was a little unthinking.

Everyone has problems with some products, and I will shortly be posting something about AVOs - completely unbiased of course .

The performance of the AVOs on track has been superb. I'm not a good enough driver to exploit the extra benefits of DMS for instance, but for the money, on track performance is outstanding.

but how good is a £800 product when it only lasts a year and then you need to spend another £800 to get a new one? that is what i was talking about.

the reason they will be good on track because they are hard really. you can probably get the same result for similar money if you use koni suspension and eibach springs. i don't really know how durable they are but i have never heard of any of them breaking and possibly damaging the cars.

Hi guys.
Sorry i've been away for a while, back now.
The AVO's performed stunning on track when I first got them. However, the n/s rear strut kept working loose, and is booked into TN for a check as there is now an awful clanking noise when that side is compressed. Very unnerving, but whether the strut is broke or just loose again I don't know.
I have only been on two track events and don't drive particularly hard on the road, so if is is broke I will not be impressed.
I will of course let you all know the outcome.

Stef.

This is one of the things I love about this board - when theres a problem it's posted here before theres a chance to sort problems out

Sam,

I thought AVOs were rebuildable? Same as Ledas.

If i were to spend 800 squid on suspension, doesn't matter what type, i'd want it to last longer than a couple of track events and certainly wouldn't want them to physically break on me!

What's the manufacturer saying about all these alleged failures?
Are they concerned about the issue or do they just fob customers / distributors off?

Craig

A customer has told me that the AVO suspension on your car collapsed whilst you were driving.

Is this true?
