Which Kit? Avo, Leda, DMS?
#1
Hi,
I am thinking of getting a suspension kit for my MY99 RB5.
My logic behind doing suspension etc first is that the car
is quick enough as it is (has PPP + decat downpipe) and I
am intrigued to see how it can be made better handling-wise.
So... it would appear that I have three main options:-
Avo,
Leda,
DMS.
I am inclined to want the Leda as it appears to be well respected and I like the idea of it being setup at the factory. BUT... I have noticed some pretty good deals on Avo kits (NAM in particular), the DMS kit is listed purely because it's another option.
So... what do you think would be the best to go for?
Anti-lift kit, prodrive geometry settings (maybe bump-steer mod?) and either the Avo, Leda or DMS kits?
the car will be mainly used on the road but I do plan to do a couple of track days.
ta,
Matt

hi...
from your post it sounds like you currently dont have any suspension mods, in which case id personally first of all go for anti lift kit, anti bump steer and 4 wheel alignment (all done together) and see how that suits you. if that doesnt get it handling how you want it theres anti roll bars (and links) and/or the full suspension kits which you mentioned

If I had the money I'd go for DMS - personally I think that is the best "reasonably priced" kit out there.
The AVOs are great for the money - not quite up to Leda/DMS but the performance ratio is certainly not the same as the price ratio.
I'd say they are 95% as good.
My car on track seems superb now - only the driver lets it down now

I have to agree with milo,
I would recommend Bump Steer Mod with Geometry, Anti-Lift and Eibachs all in one hit from Powerstation. This transforms the handling whilst barely compromising the quality of the ride on the road. It will transform front end grip and feel, and the car feels much more adjustable on the throttle mid corner It will also reduce body roll quite a bit....you won't be disapointed
This lot will cost you about £600 all in from PS and IMHO, can't be beat. If you do more than a couple of track days and you want more track suited suspension, then think about AVO's or the new Billie's when they come out. I suspect that you'll be happy to stick with the above setup if you're on;y doing a couple of track days a year
There seems to be divided opinion about uprating Anti Roll Bars. Some people think you *must* do it (there's no question it's great on a dry trackday ) and some think that you'll compromise the all round ability of the car - particularly in the wet. I'm still undecided on this one myself but a friend of mine who used to be the race engineer for JJ Lehto whilst with the Rosberg ITC Team recommends that you use the softest ARB's you can live with on the road for the most "compliant" handling......

Dave,
Yep, the ride and composure of your car both on the road and on the track is top notch indeed I just think that the AVO's are nearly as good for a significant saving (£650 vs £1600).
I think the new Billies (if they ever actually make it to market ( ) will be even closer (better VFM) still
You pays your money and you make your choice
