Uprated Handling
Hello - I have a W reg UK Turbo 2000 - completely standard, except for Prodrive 17 inch wheels.
I have had the car now for a few months, and bought it for pretty much Track day use only, but needs to remain road legal to get there and back and also some domestic chores.
Having completed a few track days now, I want to make the car handle better. Driving the car and trying to keep up with less powered cars that have modified handling, and seeing how much the car pitches on the photos they take (and try to rip you off with at the end of the day).
Has anyone done a similar thing, for a similar reason and can advise?
I dont want to spend a fortune on it, and am more than capable of doing any work myself.
Cheers,
Richard.
PS - If anyone has been considering doing a track day, do it, you will love it.

I suppose front and rear strut braces can only improve the handling (mine feels better). But that is the extent of my handling "knowledge"
But from reading on here, I expect someone to mention coilovers, uprated ARB's (Anti Roll Bars) etc.
You can get semi-slick tyres that are road legal.

I'm about to upgrade the handling of my MY99 V-reg Turbo2000 with the following:
Eibach springs
Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit
Eibach camber bolts front + rear
Powerstation geometry set-up
Powerstation bump-steer mod.
Whiteline 22mm adjustable rear anti-roll bar.
I already have Whiteline steel rear drop links.
Most of the above parts are pretty much considered the cheapest/easiest way to greatly improve the handling of a standard classic.
In the future I'll get some steel front drop-links and Powerflex front anti-roll bar bushes.
If money is no object, people on SN are raving about the AST coil-overs from Powerstation. They're a bit out of my budget, but perhaps in the distant future...

IMHO:
timccr is almost spot on.
I would fit 22mm front bar and 24mm rear to uprate the whole roll bar system, I think you will gain a lot over the 22mm in the rear (stock front) on a track and not suffer too much on the road with the shopping/wife etc.
I am one of the AST 'ravers' but those mods above will give you a nice car that will do all you need.
One of the key elements is an alignment by Curtis or Andy @ PowerStation.

Fair point... my set up will be for my road car, I'll probably rarely (if ever) take it on a track, so I'll be on stock front, 22mm rear ARBs.
If I did track it... like Graham says, 22mm front, 24mm rear (with uprated heavy-duty rear ARB mounts).
