Default Stage 2 v stage 3 powerstation mods

wish to upgrade my 03 sti, is the eibach and Whiteline mods sufficient or do the ASTcoil overs make that much of a difference.

my car's an every day machine - not trackday, and i prefer not to have bone shaker ride. i live on c roads.

what's best - stage 2 with cash left over for ecutek or stage 3.

regards

IMHO (with a Classic)
AST's can be made for road use.
The 03 is a heavy Bug-eye so i would think 50/40 would be right.
Best ask Curtis/Rich/Andy @ Powerstation.

They might not like me saying this, but for a road car the one-way adjustables are better (imho) for the road as they are so easy to set-up.

IMO:
ASTs can be made to work very well as a road setup. TRUE (alhough you might get some minor clunking from the rear...)
Is there the need for coilovers (and the extra expence) on the road? Doubt it...
If you shocks are in a good condition, then I would suggest to fit only a set of springs and see what you think. A stage 2 will offer a considerable improvement over a std setup, and you can then go for a remap to spice up things a bit further
If the shocks are tired then I would consired ASTs as an alternative.
I do run ASTs on my Classic STi TypeR and they do perform fantastically on track/smooth roads without being harsh at B-roads etc...,but for only road use the STi shocks where more than sufficient.

thanks for the opinion - i guess you have first hand experience on north lincs roads.

i'll probably go for the stage 2 - having only done 29,000 miles - i'm sure the shocks are still in good nick.

with better than stock handling - a better generic map will be called for than the one size fits all -ppp ecu.

i'll give it year with the eibachs - i think the next stage is driver conditioning to allow the car to flex its muscles with some sense of safety.

Anymore opinions guys ? I'm going to get mine fitted on Wednesday so I need to know which to choose. I'm worried about fitting 18's to my classic and destroying the ride therefore as the suspension will play a big factor in this I need your advice ??????

Ricky:
Make sure in YOUR mind what you want from the car.
A good road car with comfort?
A fast road car with 'attitude' (and compromise)
Road Track day starlet
Full blooded race car and stuff the comfort! (mine )

Then talk to Curtis or Andy at Powerstation.

I spent three days on the mainland and I'm only back home in Ireland about an hour ago. Although I havent driven the car in real anger yet, my first impressions are very good. I am immensely impressed with the stage 3 T25 kit the guys at powerststion fitted for me. It has completely transformed the car ! I intend to tinker with the settings in the next few days and will give a better opinion and a few days of living with the suspension on roads which I know well.

All I can say is that if anyone is thinking of suspension mods the guys at Powerstation are a great bunch of lads. They treated me fairly, explained all they were doing, and.... well, in general just real good professional service. A special thanks to Curtis and Andy for their contributions to my car. Thanks guys !

Your guaranteed my buisness again !

Anyone considering this T25 kit Ive just one thing to say ....... go for it. You wont be disappointed. You may not think my last car (a UK22b) is the best handling scooby out there, but I always thought it was good. This is better. So get those credit cards out guys !!!

Ricky !

Just an update , got the guys at powerstation to fit the stage 2 kit + ecutek remap over the existing PPP map + sports cat + prodrive exhaust.

Nice handling balance now with an extra 20 bhp (320 bhp) over the 299.5 PPP

Very pleased.
