Default KYB Gas or oil

Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been talked about before, but I could only find threads about the AGX shocks...

I'm thinking of refreshing the suspension on my 2000 Impreza Sport Special (can't afford a turbo, sadly).

I've got a brand new unfitted Eibach Pro-kit set of springs, but I'd like to get new shocks as well and fit it all at once (my shocks are 61k miles old).

Firstly, where is the best/cheapest place to buy standard Turbo2000 top-mounts? Subaru wanted approx £80 for each mount. I'm looking at struts to suit a turbo model, so I'll need the appropriate top-mounts (Sport top-mounts are different apparently).

I've found a place in the US selling STi top mounts for about $62 each, which is about £33 each before import tax. Considerably cheaper! How about UK prices of similar mounts?

Now, onto the main question...

Camskill sell a complete standard Turbo2000 shock kit (all four struts) for £238. They're KYB shocks and I assume they are oil damped.
Buy-parts-by sell KYB Excel-G gas shocks (full 4-strut kit) for approx £220.

Which would be the better buy - gas or oil? Advantages/disadvantages of each?

As much as I would love some AGX shocks, I can't justify the expense for my lowly Sport model.

Thanks for any help guys!

Just a quick bit of info, both the shocks use oil as the damper it is just that the gas ones use a gas to keep the oil under pressure which menas it does not thin out so much when it gets hot. Therefore the shock retain better damping when doing lots of hard cornering.
