Default Lowering My STI 8 - New to suspension mods

Guy need advise...event htough this is my 3rd scooby and car number 8 so far...i still have no clue on the Suspension side of things...

I have bought an STI which has the standard 17" rims on it. I love the drive, it is not too hard and nice to drive.

I will be buying 18" wheels for the car soon to suite the TSL conversion also planned.

I wanted to lower the car, however not by using cheap springs that may sink in months to come...and on the other had not to spend silly money:

Any advise on what i can do?

I had the Prodrive springs on mine for a while Sam. Gave it that lower stance although I'm not too sure of the exact drop. Ride quality I'd say was only slightly harsher (if any) but still wasn't 100% keen on the handling side.

Was tempted by the AST suspension and in the end wasn't a choice as the rear strut started to knock. Could have had it replaced under warranty but what the hell. You could choose your height of the coilovers then of course play with the 12 point settings to tighten up the whole feel for whatever suits your driving style. Even on Powerstations settings the car felt so much smoother than the standard suspension and its by no means harsh (even on the hardest setting)

Overall very happy. I certainly would go this route directly if your budget allows. If not second hand Prodrive springs come up now and again (I sold mine for £100.00) but I have no experience with the other brands (tein/ Eibach) so not sure what they are like.

just had Eibachs fitted to mine at Powerstation
Ride is now more supple - not so harsh as on standard STi springs - so far really happy with it.
also had a rear ARB and droplinks, anti lift kit and new geo settings and the car drives completely differently - well worth 1/2 a day and few hundred quid at PS
... not sure of any long term side affects but i'll worry about that when the time comes right now its great

Got a set of Prodrive Springs and its lowered by 25mm. The ride is a little bit more harsher but firm. Looks good as well!
Also I have a TSL 333 on the car which is well worth it, it will bring a big smile on your face!

I fitted Eibach's to my Classic once, and it had hardly dropped it so i was trying to avoid going down that route...

Is it worth buying second hand springs or is new always best as i am sure there is no way of telling if second hand ones are shagged?

I am thinking prodrive spring new i have noticed they cost £200 (unless someone knows of them to be cheaper somewhere?) Have been told that these do not lower the ride height by much, however the Tein one lower more...which are costing £175

Any thoughts?

The std 03sti comes with spec c springs all round as std, and is rather choppy on uk roads because of this. Prodrive springs would be a good move.
Eibach don't sell TUV approved springs for the sti, only for the non sti wrx.
