Only if you fit all the right bits around them, otherwise you are wasting your $$$$.
AST's are the only way to go if you want a first class product, fitted by first class technicians, and want the surety of a first class service.

When I bought my MY95 WRX JDM, it had Cusco Race suspension on it. And found them too stiff for everyday use. So, I changed them for a set of Tein Super Street Damper and I find them brilliant. And at only £670 without upper mounts, and £890 with upper mounts well within your budget.

AST's will cost about that much with alignment etc.
Call Rich and talk to him.
Tell him '911' sent you (hope that won't bump the price up!!)

Tell him your budget and what you need.

They will give you the right springs and damping rates and the car will be superb.

Tath:

No, my car is a straight Sti v3 so 'normal' trans,
ie no dccd
open front diff
viscuse rear diff

A dccd will make a big difference to understeer control.
(a friend used to hill climb an Sti RA)
