Default stiffer rear on a classic.

Hi guys. Fitted my new 18s yesterday (215/35/18). Went for a fast blast today and found that the rears are rubbibg on the arches. The offset is obvoisly wrong but I cannot afford to get another set and they do fill the arch really nice.

So my question is---. Are there any springs I can fit which will stiffen the suspension without lowering it? If there is were from. I have looked on ebay but have only found lowered sets.

Please help as the kids have been banned from the back as it makes the problem worse.

Thank you. Mark.

Have you had the arches rolled?

No. I have heard about this but never seen or had it done. Who would I see and will the arches need painting after?

Cheers. Mark.

Not sure where you are, but you could try Scoobyclinic, Prosport or Powerstation.

I've never seen it done but I don't think the arches need painting afterwards.

if yours aint lowered and 18 are catching then the offset must be WAY out
can't you put the old wheels back on and sell the 18s if your skint

i'd imagine you must have 30mm offset if they stick out that far
unless they're 8.5+ inches wide , , , must really affect the handling as well

YOu can stiffen the back end by using a thicker anti roll bar, which might help the problem when cornering but not on the straight.

Essentially you're trying to find a bodge that will fix the problem caused by using the wrong offset wheels. I assume you've gone for too low an offset and the wheels are sticking right out? If that's the case, all you can do is roll the arches. The alternative is to take the wheels back or flog them, and get the right offset!
