Default Anti lift kit and alignment

Got an anti lift kit and alignment done yesterday but the ride is now really hard so I have decided to take them off. Do I need to get the alignment done again? My tyres are on their last few miles so dont mind if they have a few days without alignment but how much damage will not doing it do. I have a 250 mile trip coming up on friday.

?
Antilift kit will not stiffen the suspension.
Alignment will not stiffen either.

If you remove the ALK then strictly you should re-align.

IMHO there is something else wrong.

Graham.

As Graham says, the ALK doesn't stiffen anything up. It does use some poly bushes so you may get some more NVH but I wouldn't have thought it would be very noticeable.

What else did they do other than ALK & geo?

Nothing extra done. Perhaps my description was poor. I fitted eibachs at the weekend and ran around without alignment til tuesday. Ride was stiffer but fine. Yesterday fitted the anti lift kit and the vibration though wheel and car is awful. Roughly surfaced roads have the car rattling like a french car which it wasn't doing on monday. High speed ride is good its just rough surfaces that are a pain. Got a message from the previous owner and he said that his new whieline kit is much softer than his old one (now mine). Soft is the wrong word maybe. I think I should be using harsh and comfortable as decriptions.

not sure, never heard anyone complain a lot about the ALK. Just wait 'til you get 18's then you'll know what harsh is

I think it is because it is the wishbone's main support and there is much less give. To some people it would be fine I am sure but I like my comfort. I can feel the reduction in steering feel. Everything is a little woolier now.

I'll be getting a good geometry set up once I get back to Glasgow.

I work in Livingston, so you're welcome to pop in to my work and we'll stick them on your car. Otherwise I live out near Motherwell and again you're more than welcome to pop over. Just send me an e-mail or PM me over on the RB5oc.

It is possible you have (had) the stiffer "race version" of the anti lift kit. I have never seen one only ever fitted the ones they call "comfort".

There are three versions available and the race version I believe have black bushes and hence are much stiffer.

Mine are the yellow bushed ones and never gave me any trouble.
As to the steering feel: The more you add to the caster (the effect of the ALK) the more 'wooden' the steering feels.

Must add that Curtis did my car at Powerstation and the results speak for themselves. If in doubt see my Projects thread on 'Searching for the perfect chassis'.

Very sorry to hear you had a bad day there, but the car is great?

ps no connection to PS just a very happy customer and they significantly helped me win my race Class championship this year.

Graham.

Finnie wouldn't have got the race version from PS as they dont sell it Graham.

Glad the AST's are working out well for ya, results as you say speak for themselves.

Yup got the kit from drumsterphil on rb5oc with the eibach springs. They do have black bushes so i suspect that these may indeed be the race version. Never mind.

Ozzy, I'm back in Glasgow on Saturday night. We can sort something out after then. Right now though I had better get the service and a good alignment check carried out

I've since thumbed through the whiteline catalogue at work and the black bushed ones are DEFO the race ones..
So stiff as you like !

If you wanted to purchase a set of the comfort ones they are £125 +vat
checked that out too while I was at it.

What makes him a waste (note spelling), of time? That he won't give you discount? Why should he? He has a list of prices, and that's what you pay, guy.

When you go to Tesco, do you expect discount if you buy a whole month's groceries in one go, over just a day's? No? Of course not.

And in what way does his customer service, (note spelling), stink? Did he do the job properly, or not?

Get real, guy.

I was very happy with the work PS did on my old 97 UK turbo, transformed the handling. I even got a discount. The fact that they always seem very busy and have glowing testimonials from other members must give you a clue. Obviously anybody can have a bad experience with any company, but your manner wont help you at all.

Makes me laugh when people moan about discounts AFTER they have paid.

If you were happy to get the work done at the time - why now go and slag off someone who cant defend himself? Why not just say "I wont pay that" and leave... did Dirk have a gun against your head?

What a LOSER!!!!
