04 sti, strut brace, drop links?
Hi,
I have been thinking of a strut brace on my 04 sti, but have heard varying reports, from no good, to a must, to needing a front and rear strut brace.
I was going to get a strut brace from Scoobyworld, but don’t want to buy something for the sake of it.
I have been looking about on SN and found a number of people say its better to change the droplinks, bumperstops etc.
What is a bump stop, and what is the advantage of changing it?
Same for the droplink?
If I got a strut brace would I need to get the front wheels aligned?
I already have the prodrive springs fitted
Cheers,
Andy

There isn't much point in bracing a standard car, but as you've already got the springs and are considering the droplinks then you should get some benefit as you're removing more of the suspension compliance and forcing strain onto the chassis/body. On standard suspension very little of the energy makes it to the chassis which is very rigid anyway.
A bump stop is a collar of rubber/polyurethane (sp?) around the strut which stops the damper completely compressing to impact.

thanks for the reply corradoboy.
I dont really want to waste money getting a strut brace if its not really going to achieve anything.
After my prodrive springs what should i be looking at next to gain the most benefit?
cheers in advance

After I had the springs done on my MY03 Sti .... I updated the rear ARB and droplinks ... the different it made is unbeleivable .... no more understeer.
I've also fitted a front strut .... to be honest I havent really noticed any difference.
IMO, do the ARB and droplinks and get the geom setup correctly.
