I'm taking a day out to go up to Nottingham
but I am assured the only difference is the colour
But the real reason other than cost is to have the alignment PROPERLY set

Question for Mike Woods. Is this true that the Prodrive springs for the MY01 will be the same as the Eibachs for the old model?
Your comments would be appreciated, as would any idea of a launch date.
Thanks

I have exchanged emails with IM's Accessories Manager and Prodrive springs will be available soon. The following is from an email recieved yeserday.
'We will be fitting the springs to a car next monday for approval, cannot
foresee any problems as these things are usually tried by mike wood beforehand
If they are ok we expect stock fairly quickly
the retail including VAT will be £199.00 + fitting'
Sounds good to me , I'm going to have a set

If Phil Stevens rumor is true then Mike wouldn't be allowed to admit that now would he.

Too right. However, he would probably want to justify us paying so much more for the official part if it was different!

Let's put this one to bed!
We are in the process of developing a sports spring kit for the 01MY WRX. We have tested many different springs (including the Eibach kit sold for the early cars) and found that they do not give the characteristics we require.
The kit we have developed is totally unique and not just a repainting of the old Eibach kit!
I hope this clears up any of the confusion that has happened so far.

i-club seem as confused as the rest of us. The latest there is that they are not out until 23 November.
However, the Eibach website shows them as a catalogue item, but I don't know anybody who has them in stock.

Update
Well, the Eibach springs are now available in the US according to an advert on i-club. Interestingly, these people also distribute a lot of Prodrive kit.
So, how do we stand in the UK? Well, IM cannot (or will not) give me a release date or price. Quality service as per usual!
Any news anybody?

Hi all, US '02 WRX driver here. We have quite a muddled picture of what suspension upgrades are available for the new model WRX. If you want coilovers then you are set.
If you want a spring/strut combo then it is very confusing! I figured I would come over here since the UK has a lot more time with the WRX.
Here are my questions...
Will the current Prodrive kit with Eibach/Blistien setup work properly with the new WRX? It seems they are designing a new setup from what I read here, so is it preferable to wait for that?
We do have springs designed for the new WRX available in the US, but a lack of information on quality strut replacements. Are there any other struts for the new WRX that one could pair with shorter/stiffer springs?
There has been a lot of chatter at i-club about these things, but no definitive answers. Hopefully someone here can shed some light. Thanks much!

I chased Eibach UK today to find out whether they are going to offer the new springs in the UK that are currently offered in the US. The answer was "No. The old model springs fit the new model, and we will not be reviewing this until February next year at the earliest." When I pressed them about the kit being offered in the US, the answer was "That is for the US spec WRX which is different to the European / Japenese spec WRX"
So, what is the truth? It is true that the US WRX is different to the European / Japenese car, but the main difference to my knowledge is the fact that the US has 16" wheels. Whether the struts / springs are different I do not know. My guess is that Eibach are contracted not to supply the springs direct to us and have an exclusivity deal with IM for a period. So, we have to wait for IM to get around to releasing them.

I spoke to the very helpful Jim at Cheam motors who had spoken to someone from Prodrive at a recent IM parts meeting. It's hoped that spring kits will be at dealers around the end of November/ first week in December.

Christmas will be happening some time next week! I would suggest that you contact your dealer to get a set on order. Part number is SACC2544.

You are of course correct as the springs from the old car will actually fit the new car. What we found was that they don't give an acceptable ride, hence our unique settings which give a small reduction in ride quality (hardly noticeable when the car is fitted with 225/40x18 PZero Rosso tyres) with much improved handling etc.

nice that some one in the IM/Dealer/Prodrive loop is willing to pass on the info without needing 10 phone calls a day
