MY01 Eibachs Spring - Thanks to TSL
Thanks to the guys at TSL - Graham, Paul and Glen. I had Eibach springs and Goodridge hoses fitted yesterday, plus full geometry set up. What an amazing difference it has made. Hard to believe you can improve on the MY01’s handling with such a minor change.
Ride height is about 20-25mm lower and now looks spot on. I have now driven my usual route to work, and the ride is surprisingly improved, and the cornering is superb – smother, flatter etc. Try them for yourself and make you own mind up. I’ll post some pictures as soon as I get some sorted.
Just to clarify, these are the MY00 springs, which seem to equally work as well on the MY01, with similar geometry changes to camber etc.
Thanks guys for excellent work and hospitality. Cheers.

hmmmmm, this is all a bit interesting, i have a set of eibachs ready to go on my MY01, they're the same springs as previous Scoobs used (MY97+ i think)
but... have been told by Mike (PDrive)that they've tested these springs with eibach and dont like them at all.
therefore they're developing a sring kit with eibach from fresh for MY01 (avalible via dealers in 7-12weeks ish, but i heard that about PPP
)
until i saw this post i was gonna sell the eibachs to a pre MY01 owner and wait for PDrive- now not sure
never simple!

Hi Tiggs!
must admit mate, we were EXTREMELY dubious at first that these would work.
The free length of 00 and 01 springs is actually slightly different and this does not normally bode well.
after numerous conversations with Eibach UK and corresponding with Germany, they satisfied us that the spring weight would be a good match for the standard UK damper rate. This has certainly been borne out when driving 01 cars converted in this manner.
certainly a very cost effective option worth serious consideration when pondering 01 suspension upgrade.

Cheers

Tiggs,
Must admit, I was worried they might not work. I was happy Graham at TSL offered to test drive the car, as I very much respected his views. He was most impressed over his favourite testing ground, including some very fast bends, apexs etc. Graham's own MY00 has been described as the best handling UK Scoob by some respected people. So I suggest you give him a call, I'm sure he will give you an un-biased view.
In any case, I'm delighted with the handling and ride, which is now surperb, and the car looks perfect. I certainly won't be changing anything. I'm a very happy bunny.

I Find this quite funny really!
I registered a post here a few months back
after having my 01 fitted with the Eibachs and was subjected to a torrent of abuse because such and such says etc...
My car has covered 11,000 miles since having the springs fitted and the camber adjusted and it has been faultless.
At a recent track day in Ireland, everyone there with both new and old models was blown away by both the cars ability to put the power down and its ability to carry more speed through the bends. My car proved faster than most on the day including some STis,RB5s etc. and believe me its not because of the driver!
I would seriously doubt that professional companies would take the risk fitting spring kits to expensive motor cars that wouldnt work!
Mine does, and so does yours apparently.
With reference to the PPP, found a slightly more cost effective route to that aswell!
email me for further details.I think I have got all the benefits of the PPP for about 50% less and it was/is being fitted by a main dealer...

Dont think it was a torrent of abuse...
Just that I for one listen to the "certain people" (Mssrs Wood and Croney inc) alot and they both agreed that fitting these springs was a bad idea due to the set-up of the MY01.
Now you are saying they work fine!!
Now IM CONFUSED!!!!
Would either Mike or Pete care to comment on this?

hello mate!
I can't speak for Mike or Pete, obviously.... and have an awful lot of time for their combined knowledge on the subject of suspension.
In OUR experience of fitting these. we have been most impressed. I am so confident that you will like them.. You can even have a full refund for the springs if you want to take them off afterwards.
I have a sneaking suspicion that won't be necessary
Give us a ring if you want to chat about it... you can come and show off your PPP as well!

Cheers

Phil,
Elite done mine last year. 01708 525577. Very reasonable rates as well and a decent alignment system.
Re: the Eibachs.
I seem to remember the same situation when they released their springs for the original impreza.
Various companies were stating that the springs did not work well with the UK set-up but did work on the jap spec cars. So, I got hold of some STi struts and had the springs fitted and hey presto it was great. But, I know of many others that had the springs fitted to UK cars and hey presto, they worked great on these aswell.
