Question

Just wondering if I put the suspension from a P1 on my RB5 would it make a difference? I've searched through and I understand that the springs are different. Can anyone help on this?

Cheers

Question

Dampers and springs are different. Even if you wanted to, where would you buy them? You can't get these parts from either your local dealer or Prodrive without either a)a chassis number or b)owning a P1....

Were you thinking of finding a written off P1 from a breakers?

Matt

I know someone who have replaced their's with Leda and are selling the old ones. What I would like to know is are they better than the standard suspension that is on the RB5? I would like Leda myself but don't have the cash!!

Cheers

Most reviews tend to agree that the P1 suspension is the most "sorted" of all the Impreza variants.

It should be firmer but more compliant than the standard MY99 suspension on your RB5.

Obviously not as good as the Leda in terms of adjustment but a very good setup for road and track use.

See if you can hitch a ride in a P1 to compare.

If your friend is selling then I'm interested!

Regards

Mark

It depends on whether or not you've got an RB5 standard or the RB5WR. If you have the WR then you should have the Bilstien Dampers and Eibach springs. This setup is V.close to the P1 in terms of quality and ability. I don't think you'd get a huge improvement.

(Having said that, there is a lot of disagreement about whether or not the RB5WR does indeed have the above mentioned suspension mods....)

Well, mines a RB5 WR and I'm pretty sure it doesn't - they look like standard springs to me, not brightly coloured - is there any easy way to check for definite just by looking??

Thumbs up

He definitely did as all the ones that went through my Dealer has box std suspension.

There is no such thing as "PPP suspension mods", billies are sold separately or as part of the driving enhancement pack.

Did he buy the car new? The RB5 is two years old now.

Matt,

Sorry, but the RB5 came with std MY99 suspension. I've seen both versions side-by-side and up on ramps. The only external difference is the spoiler and the centre/backbox. If yours is different then it's been upgraded.

The WRSport has PPP & spolier no more, no less. Just about right for the £2.5K difference in price. No way are Subaru UK going to throw in another £1K worth of billies.

If certain people say that they've had billies fitted for the same price then they'll be some mighty pi$$ed people - me included.

No he got it last September. What I meant was when I said PPP suspension... was the driving enhancement pack - PPP suspension is just easier to type...

Cool

It may be worth considering the fact that the P1 is a 2Dr and the RB5 is a 4Dr, so the weight balance may be different enough to dictate different suspension tuning.
