Hi..
Ive got std suspension but experienced exactly the same symptoms as you. Mainly reversing out of drive down onto road. Took it to dealer and they replaced under warranty the anti roll bar drop links which had worn. Maybe its the same on your car. Incidentally I looked and could see nothing wrong with them either.

Cool

Having fitted solid rear links there is a bit of clonking from the rear suspension.

This is primarily 90 deg turns at slow speed - e.g. onto my driveway. At speed it is more than fine -

Anyone else experienced this - I have not uprated the bushes - which are under suspicion - although they look fine to the naked eye.

Anyone else had this problem?

Hi Rannoch,

Have you tried connecting the test wires up and checking the ecu error code? I think code 99L is a worn left hand anti-roll-bar link, 99R is the right hand one.

Oh s**t, never thought of that. Here's me being all evangelical and helpful about this great way to check errors on your car and I never thought to use it myself!

Cheers,

David

PS KRIS - thanks - that is what I needed to know - whether the bushes clonked even tho' they don't look worn.

Rannoch, I've got some powerflex rear A/R bar drop link bushes surplus to requirements. They cost £20 per side [ 2x 2 part bushes and steel inserts], you can have them for £20 for both side and i'll post them to you for free!! I know this should be in for sale section, but I had forgot all about them until i saw your post,

regards, mark

Forgive me if this is a stupid reply but could the clonking be from the LSD loading up on the rear as you've taken away some of the free play allowed with standard bushes.
hope this makes sense.

Because when you turn a tight bend i.e. onto your driveway the inner wheel travels a lot less distance than the outer one.
Like I said it might be a stupid reply.

Just wanted to check - no its not the inner wheel tramping - it's definately physical rather than mechanical - I am minded to think that it is the bushes as suspected.

It does say you need to replace them if you put solid links are - I am just a bit surprised at how quickly they have deterioated.

I am going to an adjustable roll bar tho' and this comes with the requisite bushes - so thanks for the offer Mark - anyway the solid drop links have integral bushes - it's the roll bar bushes that I need.

Cheers,

David

Hi Rannoch,

Impressed by your phrasing "it's definately physical rather than mechanical".

Question: wouldn't any physical noise be, by definition, of mechanical origin?

Cool

Moray comma

you are a sad b***ard stop

I have decided that you merely follow me around this board to take the mickey stop

You know fine well what I mean semi-colon drivetrain noises are mechanical comma bits of body banging are physical stop

Of course comma if there was a phyical contact somewhere at the rear of the car comma and there was nohyphenone there to hear it comma would it make any noise question mark

Now that is metahyphenphysical exclamation mark

Anyway comma if it was the LDS causing axle tramping that would be a code 92R of course stop

Laters comma

Rannoch

PS And you thought you had time to waste question mark
