After messing about with the front springs on my car, I can now not get them to stop clunking when going from lock to lock. Does anyone have any experience with fitting springs to the front dampers?

I am pretty certain that the plate at the top and bottom are in line, and both seem to spin OK but somthing seems to catch then release with a clunk. I have tried rotating the top mount but can't seem to stop the noise. Any Ideas?
