What's the best suspension for STi7?
Hello all,
I know it sounds vague as a topic, so I'll try to narrow it down.
My STi7 has standard 17" wheels and tyres (Original Bridgestone Potenza RE040), PPP, Prodrive springs, geometry set to Damien Harty's comments in his previour Q&A sessions, (from memory 1.5 deg neg camber at front, max available equal neg camber at rear, 1 deg toe-out at front, 1 deg toe-in at rear).
Car is used for fast road driving only, no track use (yet!), so ride is important.
What don't I like about it:-
1. The bouncy, (undamped?) ride.
2. Understeer, particularly when wet. Tends to plough straight on, even if I accelerate to pull it through the bend (when wet)
Options-What works? Pros and Cons
1. Strut Braces
2. Whiteline ARBs. front/back, what size?
3. Whiteline ARB mounts and links
4. ALK
5. Bumpsteer mod (only for classics?)
6. Coilovers, which ones?
7. Change tyres, or go to 18"?
8. Buy WR1 :-D
Sorry about the long post.
Look forward to replies

All what I would do:
Whiteline adjustable rear ARB 22-24mm - set to middle to start & if not enough go for stiffest.
Rear toe in ? (maybe a new age specific thing) - would set toe neutral or 1-2mm toe out as per Whiteline specs.
Tyre pressures - play about with front/rear differences.
That should certainly cure the understeer.
As to the bounciness - sounds like springs & dampers aren't really matched - dampers will be matched to oe springs - a set of coilovers would be nice but the sti/prodrive set up should really be very good & you're not going to better it for less than about £1500.
All IMHO.

Thanks for the reply.
Do Prodrive do struts/inserts for the STi7? Thought they only did springs.
Will look at ARB and new geometry.
Any other opinions?
Steve
