suspension - how long does it last?
#1
A strange question, I know, but my MY99 has done 90k now and the suspension is starting to feel a bit 'bouncy.' This could be indicative that it's on it's way out so does anyone have any idea on the cost of replacing the complete OEM suspension setup or am I netter off going for something else?
Cheers

My car lasted 60k miles (with some of that on unsuitable lowered springs - fitted by the previous owner...) on the standard struts. It was being "a bit bouncy" as you describe...
You can get standard KYB OE dampers for about £50 per corner. It depends on how you use the car as to what is best. You're looking at quite a bit more to go for coilovers, and you have to ask "Will I get my money's worth?"
I know I won't, so my vote is for standard replacement bits, as Subaru actually thought about it a bit and did a half reasonable job for every day use, and I don't mind replacing them every couple of years when they get demolished by the nasty rough B roads where the voices tell me "go faster..." as they're not that expensive. (cheaper than a set of tyres, anyway )

'Bouncy' or 'loose' or 'springy'.
If you get the bushes and shocks done it should feel like a new car (albeit with 90K miles worth of creaky doors/dash/wheeljack/anything else that's plastic or cardboard etc).
Vindaloo.

At 65k my MY99 UK wagon is bouncy, so I've bought a set of KYB dampers from www.autospares-group.com & it's off to PowerStation on Saturday to get them fitted, 4 wheel geom etc.
vindaloo - which bushes would you recommend changing? I've bought front ARB bushes as I've heard these go first, but are any others worth doing at the same time?
