Question

Mods please feel free to move to the correct section.
I'm thinking of have the geometry set by a Subaru aftermarket specialist.
I do however have the prodrive settings and was wondering if 4 wheel aligning the car to these settings would be the same as setting the geometry.

I think it is the same.If you have the prodrive settings as I do it has to be done by laser allignment anyway. The only different option is to go for the bump steer mod which is an after market thing.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but 4 wheel alignment, laser alignment and geometry are, for this purpose, the same.

As opposed to doing the tracking, where only the toe angles of the fronts are checked, the 4 wheel alignment checks toe-in and camber of all four wheels.

The 'tolerances set by Subaru are so wide you could drive a bus through the gap, so whilst your dealer can reasonably argue the settings are 'within tolerance' the settings can be all over the place.

I had the setting on my P1 set to the middle of all the settings, and it transformed an already good car into a superb one. I simply can't believe how much difference it made.

On a 'classic' the Prodrive settings were supposed to improve turn in, but I recall a few people bemoaning uneven tyre wear caused by the increased camber angles.

Personally, I'd opt to get the geometry set to the middle of the tolerances before experimenting further. In fact, although my STi is only 4-5 weeks old, I've arranged to have this done on Monday, before I've scrubbed in the tyres on my 18s.

Thanks for the advise Josh.
I have a good friend who owns a tyre depo so tyre wear and price arn't an issue, plus I don't do many miles.
Think I'll try the prodrive settings first and if the wear is to excessive then play around as you suggest.

hi there,

I am thinking of visiting Power engineering to get my geometry done.

I guess they have their own settings for my STi7 prodrive.

Anyone had any experience of using them for geometry changes ? They quoted me £99. Is this good ?
