Can I remove a strut brace from a Pug 205 GTi - bolted on to the top of the suspension struts, by undoing the bolts, removing and replacing the nuts or will this knacker up the suspension/tracking and is there anything else I need to worry about with doing it?

Cheers
Neil

It will be fine, but why remove it? They do work well on a 205 and when I wrote my pug off I was glad I had it because took a bit of the impact and was bent considerably.

Thanks mate.

The reason for removing it is because it is fouling the bonnet shutting properly, and the K&N induction is a tight fit with it there too
I'm quite impressed with the 205 in a crash anyway - I was hit head on in my old car, me doing 30, girl who hit me doing about 20 and although the roof was slightly twisted, the car stood up to the impact superbly well.

Get a momo/omp they fit well

And move your induction kit closer to the throttle body down by the battery because if you have got where I think you have then you will be sucking in hot air from the manifold.

Oh my crash was at a slightly higher speed which in all honesty is more common with a 205

Cool - I'll try a momo/OMP then

This one has PAS so that means the fluid reservoir is down by the battery so no room to put the kit down there. But yeah, its up over the manifold at the mo sucking in hot air (similar position to an induction on a Yaris T Sport) so I was gonna put some cold air ducting in or go back to the factory system. Just to add, I haven't done this - bought the car like that!

LOL - know what you mean about the crashes *saying no more*

i found that a lower strut brace on the front of my car worked very well in conjunction with the bilsteins.

tightened the front right up. never had a top one.

great chassis on the 205.

i also know about what they are like in accidents

Neil - IIRC from my 205 days, you can get a bracket which relocates the PAS stuff slightly and allows the induction kit to fit in down behind the headlight.

Bilsteins

With the K&N kit you get parts to re-locate the ps resevoir.

Crashed pug at a speed i'm not going to mention and it took the impact very well

The thing is I got thrown out through the boot i have pics somewhere of the car and my seat belt still plugged in!

OMG!!! lol! well lol now, bet it wasn't at the time!

Cheers DW - I may have to get rid of the one on there then and get a proper kit - as far as I can tell its just a K&N cone on there at the mo. Had a K&N on my first 1.9 205 and that went down by the batt, but no PAS on that one, that was replaced by a different make after my first (non fault) accident
Trouble is as far as I can tell from K&N they say their kit doesn't fit the PAS cars - is there a different kit specifically for them?

Cheers
Neil.

LOL at Weava

Neil - mine had a JR kit on, which was £78 all in and included instructions to fit to a PAS 205 as well.

Reason i went for JR - was reported to give more power and better filtration in the mags at the time.

Was also much bigger than the K&N as well. IIRC the part number was 205KK or something.
