Springs or Coilover ???
#1
I followed the discussions here for a few months now; As I am considering a suspension upgrade I can choose between two optiions.
1 : I go for the coil overs
2 : Just replace the springs with Bilstein items.
What should be the best, I have a MY2000classic one, but I find the damping already on the stiff side.
People are saying lots of things like don't change the springs alone or you will ruin the setup, or the us of a coiloversystem is too hard for everyday use.
I know there are all kinds of suspension setups here so give me some advice here.

im also thinking about changing to a coilover setup (leda). I am not too concerned about the price of them but want to know if they might be too hard for road use and whether u can adjust the spring firmness just by changing the ride height slightly. My car is a 96 prodrive and i find it too hard. My mate had a 98 car and i thought it seemed to be much more compliant and handled a lot better. Anyone got any opinions or experience with the leda coilovers vs say bilsteins. Also, if you change to bilsteins, what is a good shock to use??

Ed,
We can supply springs to suit, so a softer rate if thats what you are looking for.
Hopefully Pete Croney, Deep Singh, or some of the others will post a reply.
Mustn't be seen to advertise!!

I think you would be very impressed with our normal choise of springs. The ride with Leda is about as compliant as a stock UK car, but more compliant than an import. What is much better is body roll control and weight transfer.
Being fully adjustable, you can play with damper settings to suit your roads and your driving style.
