hi all, just joined the forum. I hope this is gonna be the start of a long and meaningful relationship..........

i'm pondering on the idea of buying strut braces (front and rear) to increase the rigidity of the chassis. While doing some research, i realised that the offerings from omp/sparco are almost a third the price of their counterparts from those scooby specialists......

my qestion: is there really such a big difference in the quality/performance to justify this?????
i'm currently a student....ie. tight budget, hence i'm not concerned as to how it looks as long as it does the job. any comments?

for £60 the sparco one is a bargain, fitted one last month and it had noticeable affects on stability.

not sure about the back one cos i haven't fitted one yet

oh, and welcome to scoobynet

Hi and welcome to SN

Make sure you tell your insurance company, as a side impact can cause the strut brace to damage the other side of the car.

Welcome

A strut brace is a strut brace so long as it is rigid !

If it is cheap and rigid it becomes a cheap strut brace

So, if it does the job....

Welcome, the more you pay, the better you get.

IMHO the OMP and Sparco units are not as good a even the STi carbon jobby. I.E. easy to move.

Go for a heavy alloy unit, this will give better strength.

My sti 7 had the sti strut braces fitted front and rear when I picked it up from the dealer, they look great. Don't know what difference they make as I have nothing to compare against.

Not so sure about the pink though!!!!!!!

They do make a differance! OMP/Sparco will do the job, IMHO you pay for the name with the more expecive ones though I think they are lighter.
We'll see if my Cusco one ever turns up!!!
